Scottoiler placement - Topcat2006 - 04-01-13 Hi All, I fitted a scottoiler to my 2002 fazer 1000 and followed scottoiler's suggested placement. I'm not happy with where it is and since I'm in the process of refurbishing my swingarm have decided to look at refitting it. Has anyone put the oiler anywhere other than under the seat and different placement of the injection nozzle.  I'm thinking of placing it on the front sprocket and have done some searching on the forum where people have talked about doing it but cannot find any info as to if its worked or not. Has any got any advice and most importantly some pictures :-) Thanks Tom Re: Scottoiler placement - sadlonelygit - 04-01-13 front sprocket turns @ 3 times faster than the front, that's why a scottoiler ALWAYS goes to the rear. get the touring reservoir that goes behind the no. plate Re: Scottoiler placement - devilsyam - 04-01-13 year rear is scotoilers recommendation but not for me bloody ugly cable ties and pipes everyware i dont do ugly my res is under seat pipe runs down left subframe rail injector is mounted off left bolt on the water bottle in front shock drops bang on chain no mess no fuss ill post up some pic's when tiz daylight Re: Scottoiler placement - ZiggyCol - 04-01-13 I've always used a Scottoiler and tried to be neat in the installation. I've always put the standard reservoir under the seat. On my FZS600's I used P clips to locate the supply pipe underneath the swingarm which effectively hides the pipe and looks better than the usual cable tie solution. I figured very small holes drilled into the swingarm for self tappers wouldn't be detrimental and I had no problems. However when I moved onto my FZS1000 I like you wondered about the possibility of using the front rather than rear sprocket so decided to give it a try. Although it does rotate faster it is effectively enclosed so you don't get a problem with oil flying everywhere. It's been on a couple of years and the chain oiling seems effective and the chain has required no adjustment beyond that inherent when I've had cause to take the rear wheel off. In fact there is the advantage in that the oiler nozzle doesn't get disrupted whenever you do have to remove the rear wheel. It is fairly tight for space around the front sprocket and you obviously have to make sure the nozzle is secure but I've had no problems. Give it a try . . . Re: Scottoiler placement - stevierst - 04-01-13 Ive always placed the nozzle above the chain, just infront of the front sprocket dripping oil directly on the chain. It's worked on a few of my bikes in the past The nozzle cable ties to the frame and is pretty much invisible. However, I had to go to the rear sprocket on my Gen 2, and the owner before me put sticky pads under the swingarm that you can cable tie the pipe to. You can only see it when you kneel down next to the bike. Re: Scottoiler placement - Falcon 269 - 04-01-13 Another vote for the front sprocket fitment, although I removed mine when I moved to Spain because it's just as easy now to clean and oil the chain after each ride ... one of the many benefits of not riding in the rain, you see. Sorry, no photos but I modified one of the Scottoiler injector holders to position the nozzle over the front sprocket and held it in place using one of the bolts securing the sprocket cover.  Holder trapped between cover and crankcase, obviously. Re: Scottoiler placement - Capt - 04-01-13 I managed to locate my e-system just to the right of the CDI unit under the seat.  The delivery then is routed to the inside of the swing arm then to the rear sprocket, turned out a nice neat well hidden result by luck.  When I get a chance will take some pictures for you. They come up on ebay now and then at reasonable prices. Re: Scottoiler placement - fireblake - 04-01-13 My reservoir is jammed down in front of the battery. Fits nicely and doesn't move, and is clear of the air intake. The hose goes straight down and is fixed to the swinger by adhesive pads with plastic clips that hold the pipe. They run on the inside of the arm and the nozzle drips just in front of the rear sprocket. Never had a problem in the 2 years fitted. Re: Scottoiler placement - MightyClown - 05-01-13 I have the scotoiler nozzle at the traditional point on the rear sprocket, but i moved the reservoir to a more hidden position on the bike.  See the photo.  It's OK to get to and i can fill the oiler with the scotoiler bottle and tube filler no problems.  Please remember that when positioning the reservoir to mount the reservoir as high up as you can to give the gravity pressure a chance.  That way you will get a noticeable difference between slow/fast flow rates on the scotoiler. Mighty clown - that's where I put mine and tbh I'm not happy with it there.  I seem to get lots of bubbles in it and ultimately I would like for a more vertical position rather than the nearly horizontal one you and I both have. Re: Scottoiler placement - Lazarus - 06-01-13 ive got a touring scot oiler - practically vertical behind the number plate. the cables/tubes are almost hidden, routed under the seat and the oil feeder drops under the swingarm, held on with mastic and clips - there isnt a lot of the oil line to see.
