What the HELL??? Indicators. - N A Chess - 22-12-12 Hi All. It would be a great Christmas if someone could help me here. When I put my indicators on - the rear one flashes correctly but the front one flashes on the opposite side. So: If I indicate right. rear right indicator and front left indicator flashes If I indicate left, left rear indicator and front right indicator flashes. I assume this happened after a secondhand headlight and wiring loom was fitted about 6 weeks ago - and I must have only just noticed it. (Cannot see this happening overnight). It must have be put back together incorrectly. As the guy is not around, would anyone be able to tell where the fault is likely to be? I don't really know where to start....... Regards Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - markbubble - 22-12-12 sounds like the front indicator wires have just been put on wrong side so just swap left for right and visa versa and that should be easy fix Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - N A Chess - 22-12-12 Thanks Mark. I'll give it a go when it's daylight ![]() Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - markbubble - 23-12-12 no probs hope you get sorted Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - His Dudeness - 23-12-12 yeah your wires are on backwards. i shouldn't laugh but i could just see you riding around with your indicators on, confusing everyone :lol Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - darrsi - 23-12-12 What you need to do is strip the whole bike down to bits, then rebuild it facing the opposite direction so that the indicators are the right way round....... :lol Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - JZS 600 - 23-12-12 Indicators,,,,,? Always wondered WTF they do :lol Re: What the HELL??? Anyway a big THANK YOU to all - it's now sorted - and yep, I switched them over as suggested by Mark/Red98. ![]() Now I just need to get the headlamp sorted - it works but in a crazy way..........but that's another story. Beware when buying second hand looms.............. Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - His Dudeness - 23-12-12 a cRaZy headlight :lol what's wrong with it? Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - markbubble - 23-12-12 glad you got indicators sorted now lets fix your headlight, whats up with it? Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - N A Chess - 23-12-12 Headlight? Well, here goes. First click of light switch - r/h beam comes on. Second click and r/h appears to go brighter but blue 'full beam' indicator does not come on. You can push the full beam switch and it will come on 'blue' but it doesn't actually make a difference........ The l/h side plays no part in this - stays off. It worked before, but may have blown. Incidentally, before I sorted the indicator problem, both headlights used to come on at once (like the modification done by some owners) and the r/h light went onto full beam when required, I never did the modification, so I can only assume that ALL of this is due to the second hand headlight unit and headlight wiring loom not being identical replacements. My old unit, for example, had the little extra small bulb on the r/h side. The replacement has not got one. Confused yet?? At least now the indicators are sorted I can ride to work tomorrow and avoid the train............. ![]() Thanks again for all you help and interest. Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - Andy FZS - 24-12-12 What have changed and why? Have you changed due to accident damage? Was the new one from the same year of bike? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 Re: What the HELL??? Indicators. - N A Chess - 26-12-12 Andy Not an accident. The l/h headlight reflector failed/melted - as they all do eventually. I was told it would fail next MOT by dealer. It is a MK1 and I purchased Mk! headlight unit and headlight wiring loom from Ebay. They fitted OK but, as I said previously, the replacement unit lacks the small 'pilot' light on the r/h side that the original unit had............... Also been told that the headlight conversion - making both sides light up, is an MOT failure....... Re: What the HELL??? Also been told that the headlight conversion - making both sides light up, is an MOT failure.......I'd be surprised if you have a problem getting that through the MOT. The dipped beam from the H4 is pretty well controlled, though you might want to take some tinsnips to trim the tabs on the base of the bulb slightly to allow it to be rotated a few degrees clockwise (as viewed from behind)... I find it to be a bit "continental" otherwise. |
