Oil & Oil Filter - xlewisbdx - 20-12-12 So about to change my oil so I look on eBay and find this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280705472621?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Good Price I am happy with that. I phone Yammy up to get a price and he says I will do you 25% off so £36 with a genuine Yammy Filter. He said don't get a 3rd party filter because it's just like cleaning your old one. How true is this or is he BSing me? He has a Fazer himself so if he is reading this HI!! Re: Oil & Oil Filter - Dead Eye - 20-12-12 Nothing wrong with using a 3rd party filter in my opinion. Likely follows similar rules to the oil; cheap stuff changed regularly is better than old stuff left in the engine for ages. So if you change the filter regularly then a 3rd party filter should be fine - even then some aftermarket parts are better than OEM Re: Oil & Oil Filter - darrsi - 20-12-12 Both prices are okay. Don't expect the stuff from Busters to arrive this side of Xmas though, it just won't happen. I ordered fork oil from M&P (same company) on Monday and still no sign of it yet. I normally go for the K&N oil filter simply because it has a nut on the end to make it easy to get off with a socket or spanner, otherwise you'll more than likely need a chain wrench or similar tool to remove it 'cos they can get a bit tight after a while. Re: Oil & Oil Filter - xlewisbdx - 20-12-12 Can I also add is 4L enough oil or do I need more? How much does the bike take? With oil filter 2.7L Without oil filter 2.5L Total oil from dry 3.5L Re: Oil & Oil Filter - darrsi - 20-12-12 Lewis have you not got a Haynes manual yet? Re: Oil & Oil Filter - His Dudeness - 20-12-12 if they're both more a less the same price i'd go for the yamaha stuff Re: Oil & Oil Filter - xlewisbdx - 20-12-12 (20-12-12, 02:30 PM)darrsi link Wrote: Lewis have you not got a Haynes manual yet? Yes. Got the online one but didn't look at it :/ *facepalm* Re: Oil & Oil Filter - darrsi - 20-12-12 Get the book mate, it's worth every penny! Re: Oil & Oil Filter - JZS 600 - 23-12-12 I used the freebie filter that came with the HG oil,, ok it looked a bit small but it's doing the job. |
