Crash bungs / bobbins - Andy FZS - 17-11-12

Hi  I'm thinking of buying some crash bungs before I wish I had  :\  I've read that the single bolt ones are poor and the multi point ones are better. Does anyone have any advice (I know don't drop it  :lol ) on which are best which should be avoided where to buy from etc.

Cheers

Andy

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - DanielT - 17-11-12

I bought R&Gs for the engine mount and these for the front forks

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - darrsi - 18-11-12

Correct me if i'm wrong, but they ain't the forks?  :rolleyes

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - unfazed - 18-11-12

No they're not. My mistake in clicking the relisted link without checking it was correct, in an attempt to be helpful. If you'd have clicked 'seller's other items' you could have been of more use by posting the correct link, instead of being a nob

Here's the correct link

So you post an incorrect link, and when someone questions it, you call him a nob? Prick.

Why should darssi have to run correcting the link you focced up?

I was here to help the original poster.  what have the other 3 posters done? Nothing helpful.

my link, even though incorrect, led to the ebay seller that may be of use to the OP

Yeah, what a prick I am!

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - darrsi - 19-11-12

Let me tell you now, i doubt very much that we'll be helpful to you in the future either, so if you ever have any questions just keep them to yourself.

And yes, i think we all agree, you do sound like a prick, and an arrogant one at that.  :rolleyes

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - Dead Eye - 19-11-12

That's a bit over the top. The forum is supposed to encourage the community to help each other, not "ban" people because of something trivial like this.

Sure the link was wrong, but he was trying to help and is also the only one so far to have posted something regarding the OPs question. However, calling darrsi a nob for realizing the mistake isn't acceptable since it isn't darrsi's job to find the correct link. Most people wouldn't think to check the sellers other items

In any case, it mostly boils down to if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything. Let's try not to kill the community here

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - DanielT - 19-11-12

I shouldn't have called him a nob. I don't even know darrsi.

I reacted badly to the rolleyes emoticon. Sorry

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - darrsi - 19-11-12

Slightly over sensitive over a cartoon, but not as sensitive as i can be when i get randomly insulted.

But apology accepted anyway, and i'll apologise as well for my response, we'll leave it at that!

Ah well I'm still not sure about the crash bungs but it's not been boring. ......

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - papercutout - 21-11-12

Back to the original topic, anyone got any suggestions? I keep seeing these on ebay:

But I'm not so sure. Must be better than nothing?

Crash bungs / bobbins - wfbroddy - 21-11-12

I would have said that those bungs listed stand off the frame too much and would just bend/snap off in a non-rubber side down situation.

Have a look see at the same version of the R&G bungs here
http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Yamaha/Fazer_600/2000.aspx

See how the body of the bung doesn't thin out near the frame, so this style would hold up better

IMHO

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - richfzs - 21-11-12

The R&G ones are very different - they also have a large block between them and the frame of the bike, to further spread the strain that wfbroddy mentions, so they are shorter in their own right. They also bolt to the frame in 2 locations (via the large block), so the impact is spread out there as well, you don't want to save your engine cases just to have the frame trashed  :eek

The R&G are more expensive (more than twice the money), but for me, there's no question which is better - I have R&G ones on mine. No regrets.

Re: Crash bungs / bobbins - xlewisbdx - 22-11-12

Do you want bung or bars?

I bought these bars from Poland. Only took 3 days to arrive and FREE postage! Can't complain!
