fzs 1000 carbs - kev - 09-10-12 hi when starting from cold she starts first time but when i use the choke the engine cuts out,and will not run is this problem one of adjustment or is this carbs off job and strip down job and clean out :'( thanks kev Re: fzs 1000 carbs - Falcon 269 - 09-10-12 Hi Kev and welcome It's not unusual for the Gen 1 to dislike choke on start, especially if it's been re-jetted. If it starts without choke and runs fine, relax and don't lose any more sleep over it. ![]() You certainly don't need to pull the carbs or do anything else to them. Mike Re: fzs 1000 carbs - jools - 10-10-12 Hi i have recently bought one fazer 1000 Gen 1 and found when i put the bike with the choke full out (cold start) and just hit the starter it spluters for a few seconds and then picks up revs to say 1K. I then put it into half choke and leave it for say a 3 mins and it settels down to a nice idle of 1200K. but when i start it when its warm it just fires up on the button. is this normal for a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 ![]() jools Re: fzs 1000 carbs - tomlinscote - 10-10-12 Seems pretty normal to me apart from the 1200000 idle speed :b If I start mine on the choke it does as you describe but will idle above 2k unless I reduce the choke setting (which I do to get about 1.2k) P Re: fzs 1000 carbs - MEM62 - 11-10-12 I wouldn't worry about it. In anything other than the coldest weather my bike starts first time without choke. I will occasionally then feed in about 1/3 choke once running just to give it a reliable idle while I get my gloves & helmet on. It's then choke off and off we go. My carbs have been breathed on by Mike so I know they are tip-top. |
