Front Sprocket Compromise - bigbluebear - 08-10-12 I recently dropped down a tooth on the front sprocket and have noticed quite a difference in acceleration. I know that the clocks will be out but not sure by how much. The bike accelerates much faster to 160 (allegedly) than before and wondered what the true speed actually was. I have an app on my phone which tracks speeds and is pretty accurate as I have tested it in my car, but I was shocked to find the actual speed was only reading 131 against 160 on the clock. Surely the difference can't be that vast by dropping down by one tooth, so if anyone can shed any light on the speed restrictions would be appreciated. Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - tomlinscote - 08-10-12 I reckon the normal speedo reads about 10 mph over at about 85 ishaccording to the road side speed indicator things so if this continues through the range of readings it would be nearly 20 out at 170 so with the teeth difference maybe it is that much out?? P Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - steve pring - 08-10-12 Does this link help? http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/15toothfrontsprocketinstallation.html Regards Steve Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - bigbluebear - 09-10-12 Thanks Steve, very informative ![]() Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - bigbluebear - 09-10-12 Steve, what a goldmine site this is, been on and off of most today....seems like Pat has left nothing out Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - steve pring - 09-10-12 Yes, its a great reference point for all things Fazerish!! I did the same when I discovered it. Enjoy. Re: Front Sprocket Compromise - pitternator - 11-10-12 speedos may vary...my garmin reads about 5% less than speedo. I am on stock gearing , can easily get 155 on clock = apprx 148mph. A bit of road and getting silly prone may well bump this up to a true 155 which is what I think most fazers can achieve. |
