newbie question about clock - jools - 05-10-12 Hi all just a quick question. started bike today after i pick it up from the dealers. and i reset the clock to the right time. for the first time. but by the time i drove home and had a cup of tea and moved the bike into the garage the clocks reset themselves back to 1:00am. is something really busted or do i need to reset something or look for something bike is a Gen 1 fazer 1000 04 plate. jools Re: newbie question about clock - SEPTIKANGEL - 05-10-12 Battery is fooked - get the dealer to sort a new one, smartish like. ![]() Re: newbie question about clock - jools - 05-10-12 they have put a new battery on, maybe i have not done enough mile on it yet. i will report back tomorrow after i have put 50 miles on it. or it could be that the new battery does not have enough amps in it. perhaps the cheep skates got a smaller one in instead of the right size one. any more answers greatfully recieved. jools Re: newbie question about clock - AdieR - 06-10-12 Blown back-up fuse perhaps? Have a look at your fusebox and check it. Re: newbie question about clock - jools - 06-10-12 Hi all been for a 100 mile ride today. I have also put the battery on charge last night it know has 12.9 volts, it did have just 12.4 volts anyway just after first start and turn the ignition off it went back to 1:00am. so went for a long ride. the clock starts at 1:00 and then proceeds on 1:05 ect the trips also dont work Trip 1= 0 trip 2 is 0 but it does record the total mileage. any other Newbie question for you all is the Exvalve some time makes a little rattel noise at low speed 20mph is this normal!! the bike pulls like a train from as low as 2K. jools Re: newbie question about clock - wibblywobbly - 06-10-12 Its not the battery, it is most likely the back up fuse. What is happening is that there should be residual power going to the clocks when the ignition is turned off, so that the clock and other displays remember their settings. This power is not getting to those clocks, so they reset to defaults when the ignition is turned off. It might be a fuse, or it could be a dodgy circuit board. If you have just bought it and it is under a warranty, best advise is simply to point out the fault to the dealer. They would most likely have not noticed as if they fitted a new battery the default settings would have been displayed as a result of this. Re: newbie question about clock - budgiemurray - 06-10-12 onj my previous bike (vfr) I had this.. fault ended up being the reglator/rectifier.. might be worth testing the voltage on that too budgie Re: newbie question about clock - jools - 06-10-12 Hi thanks for your answers where is the back up fuze located, is it under the seat in the fuze box or is it the 2 near the starter relay or under tank or behind clocks. jools Re: newbie question about clock - Lazarus - 06-10-12 have you checked the connections are tight on the battery - it might be something as simple as that. Re: newbie question about clock - devilsyam - 06-10-12 re the trip not setting this is common well least on 3 my fazers its done it - simple fix remove screen and unbolt clocks 3 10mm nuts remove phillps screws from rear clocks seperate the two halfs dont worry nowt will fall out you will see the reset plunger has gone offset and misses the trigger switch in the clocks gently pull and strieghten then reassemble Re: newbie question about clock - jools - 07-10-12 Hi thanks for your replys, It was the fuze in the fuze box that had gone it look like the original 10 amp as well, now clocks and trips work and dont reset. thanks jools |
