I have kind of asked this before - so let me put it another way - has anyone fitted ace/ clubman bars to a Mk1 fzs600 whilst retaining the fairing?
I like the look of the fairing but would like a more forward ' sportier ' riding position and am toying with the idea of ace bars , I know I may have to lower/ move forward the fairing ( which I don’t mind doing) but don’t fancy the all out clip on bars approach.
I would be interested to know if anyone has tried this, if the cables and brake lines were ok as standard or needed replacing and if it changed the handling for the better or worse .
Or am I better leaving the upright riding position as it is and accepting it isn’t a sporty bike !!
I await the onslaught of abuse. lol

If you mean something approaching clip-on height, then something will smack the tank or fairing
Not sure if you could fit lower risers?
Failing that, Daveph reversed his risers to give a lower bar setup (old site) - seemed to work but looked a bit weird IMO

Failing that, lower (standard) bars are probably the best compromise

Thanks for the reply - Im certain that ace bars will hit the fairing which will need repositioning and quite sure that they wont hit the tank as they sit further forward than clip ons . I was just interested to see if anyone had done it before.

had a set of height adjustable clipons on mine if i rember right i had to move the clocks a little but that was it . still got the bars ,sorry no pix with them on the bike :\

Chris, even fitting near flat renthal bars will have you fouling the fairing with the standard risers. I'm not sure the exact design for ace bars (quick Google brought up mad twisty things on BSA's) but looks like they would need some heavy modding. Although Kebab has done loads more varied stuff than me to fazers over the years so will defo have better ideas

Thanks everyone for their input - after a lot of asking round and thinking the general consensus is that to change the riding position of a mk 1 fazer would spoil what is already a great bike.
So I think I will leave this one alone and get a junker for a rat/racer project to deal with my need for drop bars and knees in my chest style riding.[size=78%] [/size]

Flat bars work great on it, I had 758's (i think) on my old black yin but I had no fairing so was never an issue of fouling anywhere. With it jacked up and the flat bars tho, I always thought it was hard work to get it cranked over. the silver one you've seen has been lowered and has standard bars but falls into angles quite easily, which is kinda against everything ice read about jack up and flat bars. The standards work pretty well tho, I have to say
