For shorter bikers: How to save £200! - Grahamm - 23-09-12
If, like me, you're of a smaller stature than most bike manufacturers want to cater for, you'll probably have found that many bikes have a seat that's so high you can't flat-foot it on both (or even one) side.
Now you could go out and buy yourself a set of Daytona M-Star Boots which are very nice, but also bloody expensive (the cheapest I can see them is about £250 including shipping from Germany!)
So I looked into this and found a couple of better options:
1) Buy a set of "lifts" like these (search eBay for "Heel Lift shoe inserts - Height Increase Insoles" if that link has expired) which can give you up to 1" leg length (provided there's room inside your boots) and cost about £4
2) Go to Timpsons (or any decent cobblers) and ask them to put a heel (not spiked, unless that's your thing
) on your boots. For £30 Timpsons added an inch to my boot heels and it means that I can now flat-foot my FZ6 Fazer on both sides without having to lean it so far over that I have to worry that the weight is going to push it the rest of the way as has happened in the past.Total cost £35 and a hell of a lot cheaper than a set of Daytona boots!

O to have that problem :rolleyes I find most bikes to low lol ( 6' 5" )
but having boots heels raised is great idea

Being one of the vertically challenged bikers i think I would have known better to have posted this, Usually i just get the seat lowered, saves a lot of hassle and mickey taking.

I might try this, just so i can look down on Mr Kartman.
Hey Graham, do the boots still feel right, i would of thought that the cupping of the heel would be gone so would tend to feel like they might slip off even though they can't?

I can't say I've ever noticed this. They zip at the side and have a 6" Velcro section across the shin, so when that's all done up the foot is still held snugly in the boot.

NOT a great idea as far as I can see. As previously mentioned, these things will lift your foot out of position and will basically provide you with an ill-fitting boot. In the event of an "off", you will probably find that the boots are the first thing to disappear into the distance. :o

I don't see that.
There's still enough "hard protection" around the heel area to protect it from an impact and if the foot is pulled up, it doesn't matter whether you have the lifts in or not the zip/ velcro combination will keep the boot on.
