Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts? - breadlord - 20-08-12

Just put together my parts list so's I can get my dad to replace the exhaust manifold studs, gaskets and nuts on Bess, and the official Yamaha parts total comes to €62.00 on cmsnl.com (One of the few places that seem to sell by Yam parts number.)

4x Gaskets @ €4.50 each
8x Studs @ €2.50 each
8x Nuts @ €3.00 each (WTF?)

Seems a bit out of whack, frankly. Does anyone know of a website that will show you equivalent non-yamaha parts, because close to 90 EUR seems a bit stiff for maybe a hundred grams of metal... Or better yet, does anyone know anyone who sells the Yam parts cheaper?

I've used cmsnl in the past for parts I couldn't find elsewhere. Good service but, as you've discovered, not cheap. Have you tried Wemoto or Fowlers?

Wemoto doesn't return any parts when I give the OEM number (Which I used Yamaha's online parts catalogue to get).
Fowlers won't give you prices online, you've got to call them with the VIN, engine and parts numbers, apparently - seems a bit odd to me, but hey.

Fowlers is probably a no-goer, since my main mission is to get my Dad back into bikes. Iif I have him dicking around with part numbers and crawling on the floor for the block number he'll just get pissed off, whereas if I can just get a box of bits sent over he can spanner away happily.

Theres A.J. Sutton www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk
Haven't tried them tho so cant say if there good or bad.

AJ Sutton is really good, used them loads of times.

No part numbers on their site though, if you do have the parts microfiche they use the same item numbers(1-20 for example) that the microfiche uses so I find the parts that way.

I've used CMSNL on many occasions (very recently paying £90 for 2 floats for a 31yr old bike  :eek ). They're incredibly expensive, but they often have parts which are otherwise unavailable and their service is first class.

Re: Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts? - breadlord - 21-08-12

In the end I've ordered from a dealer local to my dad, so he can just go and pick them up. Came to about £50, which is about the cheapest I could find online once you factor in delivery. Webb's of Lincoln if anyone's interested.

A.J. Sutton is brilliant, bookmarked for future reference. Identifying the parts by the diagrams is how I got the parts numbers in the first place so it wasn't too painful...

Thanks all!

just for future reference wemoto does give you prices if you go down to the enter oem part number search bar

studs 2.04
gasket 2.90
nut 1.37

Re: Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts? - breadlord - 22-08-12

I did do, but the part numbers I had didn't return anything. Going to the actual page for the bike didn't show the parts up in the list, either.

the numbers in this manual should work http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=13

Re: Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts? - fireblake - 25-08-12

I used Csmnl.com for some parts for my sons Suzi Katana scooter (Travesty using that name on a ped) and they were half the price of Crescent Suzuki delivered. I never tried any other online shops though.

Re: Anyone used cmsnl.com for parts? - solorider - 26-08-12

for studs when i changed mine i went to a vauxhall dealer, the studs were over half the price and was a stock item, for the nuts i bought domed stainless steel nuts off ebay, hopefully i wont have anymore issues getting my nuts off lol
