well I got my first ever speeding ticket in the post this morning, not bad to say I've been riding and driving 44 years.
my crime is doing 79 mph on the Malton by pass a duel carriage way. It was a camera van so must have had a camera facing forward to get my number.
One mph less and I would have been ok. I was on a nearly empty road in the day it was dry, I wonder why they put the vans where its safe to go a bit over the speed limit and not where it is dangerous to speed, maybe because 99.9% wouldn't speed there.
they have caught over 16,000 in north yorkshire in the last 12 months raising about £1,000,000 in fines, lets hope it goes to improve road safety and not pay some official a vast wage for doing nothing.

I think Yorkshire is the worse for doing you there aint no give with em fookers I got done in the A64 near York @ 8am one Sunday morn there was not a sole on the rd but regardless he was adamant I was speeding.

A64 is a favourite road for them; there's one spot in Rillington where they like to sit, and its bloody difficult to see them until its too late. Other favourites are the flyovers on the DC sections, and up slip roads.
I did see a patrol car sat out one night (Saturday night / Sunday morn) around 1am on the A170 Scarborough / Pickering road near Brompton; it were dark, and had been raining heavily that day too.

Yorkshire cops target us, speeding, number plates and exhaust cans be warned.
Got me for my plate, two of my mates for speeding and a load of guys in Helmsley for thier cans in 1 TRIP to Scarbourough and Whitby.
I got stopped for plate just off the M18, yes blues n twos and stopped, mates speeding at holme upon spalding moor?? I think its called,tickets NIP in post a week later. Then like I say after Whitby stopped at Helmsley and they are checking cans for loadness and for race use only stickers.
I stopped going to North Wales during the Bromestron days, they are like angels compared to Yorks..

i had similar bother with the busa couple yr ago coppers wanted me to rev bike and hold rev
he got told to chase himself,bike not designed to be reved and held at that get me in an appropriate enviroment and they can test it if not get me a lawyer, took key out ignition nothing he could do
he went away for couple mins then returned and said you can go and simply went to his next victim

They call them scamera's for a reason.
When introduced they were used in the worst area's - and they worked. Speeding stopped and accidents fell.
Problem is then with no-one speeding there are no fines and someones got to pay the rent.
So they reduce the speed threshold as low as they can and moved them to areas where they will make the most money.
So now it's not about safety, it's about money.

Of course it is. Did you know by the way that each Police division is actually a for profit company? Look them up at companies house.
