MOT question - Lawrence - 09-08-12 Quick MOT question for you guys... is it a fail if the bars/controls touch the faring? On full lock left the throttle cables just about touch the faring because a little bit of the stopper thing is broken off. Ta ![]() Re: MOT question - darrsi - 09-08-12 If it's such a tiny amount can you not just move the bars so that it's a couple of millimetres away on full lock? Re: MOT question - Lawrence - 09-08-12 That's a good idea, I could just rotate the bars in the mounts a bit... didn't think of that one :think Mate of mine welded a bit of metal on where the old bit broke off but that's snapped off too :\ Re: MOT question - Fazbaz - 09-08-12 I'm fairly sure that the lock-stops are part of the MOT test. I've heard stories of the repair superglue failing during the actual test. I might be wrong and if not, you may be lucky and the tester will miss the fault. HTH... Baz ![]() Re: MOT question - Lawrence - 09-08-12 The stopper is still there, just one side (about 1/3 of it) has broken off... I reckon moving the bars back will clear it, just make it feel a bit funny to ride to the MOT center. Re: MOT question - darrsi - 09-08-12 Like FazBaz says hopefully you may get lucky, but looking at this it should be part of the check: http://www.motuk.com/bike/2-1.asp#Menu_Top Re: MOT question - Lawrence - 09-08-12 I'll see if I can get a photo later on to show exactly what mine is like ![]() Re: MOT question - red98 - 09-08-12 clearence is part of the test, mostly clearence between tank and bars ,as already suggest, move bars to get a pass and then return to origanal position....or take a chance he may not spot it ![]() Re: MOT question - Kenny Dave - 12-08-12 Mine goes through touching the fairing due to a bent sub frame. The fairing is actually cracked due to this too. The wording in the manual is for it to not interfere with the motion, if I remember correctly. |
