More PC techie questions - fireblake - 12-07-12 Today my computer has started to highlight certain words, if i hover to mouse over the highlighted word an advert comes up on screen. Any ideas how i can stop it and what i did to get it??? Cheers in advance. Mickey Re: More PC techie questions - Lawrence - 12-07-12 Probably some malware/toolbar that's been installed by a dodgy website. Best bet is to try something like Spybot Search & Destroy, Super AntiSpyware or Lavasoft Adaware and run a full scan. Re: More PC techie questions - Lazarus - 12-07-12 some websites are designed like that m8. you got a link to one? Don't know what you did, but I'd suggest installing Firefox and then downloading AdBlock Plus and Ghostery. NoScript is also a good one to get. Re: More PC techie questions - fireblake - 13-07-12 Thanks guys, it's a new computer and I'm running the latest paid for AGV and am using Google chrome, if any of that makes any difference? Re: More PC techie questions - Lazarus - 14-07-12 sometimes. like I said, there are pages out there that are designed to throw up adverts based on certain key words. if you can give me an example of a link, we can tell you if its your pc, your explorer settings or just the design of the web page. Re: More PC techie questions - fireblake - 17-07-12 Thanks Lazarus, I'm on nights at the mo so when I'm back to normal with time to play about I'll see if I can show you what the problem is ? Re: More PC techie questions - skooage - 17-07-12 If you're running chrome, and it IS some dodgy extension you've managed to burden yourself with follow this... - Click on the spanner in the top right of the chrome window - Go to "Settings" - Click on the "Extensions" tab near the top of the left hand section of the window. If there's anything there that doesn't look familiar, uninstall it. You won't do any harm to the running of you computer or chrome by uninstalling those extensions. Hope this helps! :thumbup |
