It will fit - dazza - 20-06-12

Have cut down a gen 2 touring screen with my bandsaw to fit my gen 1. Fits well but want to hide the back of the clocks. Any suggestions ? Have tried posting pics but it aint playing ball. :\

Experiment.  Start by masking off the inside of the screen with black tape, see how much you need to hide the clocks, what shape etc.

When you're happy, spray the inside of the screen with matt black paint ... or whatever colour takes your fancy.

Cheers Mike, will do that. Btw, my bike has asked me to ask you a question. She said, "Ask him when he's over next cos I'm having problems breathing and drinking properly?" Big Grin

I honestly don't know at present.  It won't be until mid-late October at best, though ... too busy with my day job here until the end of Sep and then family commitments in the first part of October.

Sorry it's not sooner, tell your bike. Smile

try that window tinting film, the stuff used to black out rear car windows for privacy

Re: It will fit - pitternator - 21-06-12

interesting as IMO the gen2 screen is effective, unlike the gen1 stocker....

Re: It will fit - dazza - 21-06-12

Put it to the ultimate test this morning. Terrential rain all the way from Sittingbourne to Neasden, about 65 miles and I must say I was well impressed. I found that it acted like an air blade dryer to the top of my lid, instantly clearing my visor without having to dip my head. It takes the sporty feel away from the bike as you can really feel the extra resistance but horses for courses and all that. I also found when I took it out on a sunny evening I came home with only one large fly splattered on my visor all the small ones appear to have hit the screen or gone right over my head. Smile  Still trying to post pics. :\

Looks a lot neater than I imagined.  Nice work. Smile

I like that.  8)
Had  a similar problem with a double bubble screen on my old Fireblade so masked the inside & sprayed it stain black to hide the clocks. Roughed it up a bit first with scotch pad & it looked pucker.

I seem to remember removing the masking tape & spraying along the straight line so that it faded in a bit but you probably can't tell from this picture?

Jabbascot, it's a genuine yamaha touring screen for the gen 2 fazer. I got it off of fleabay s/h I think the part no. is .....3c3-w0710-00-00. Have got to say it's really effective. Totally eliminated wind blast to all but the top of my helmet and has made the bike so much more comfortable at motorway speeds. Good luck. Wink

Re: It will fit - pitternator - 17-08-12

screens must be the most awkward mod to please everyone...try a GS...to get that right is almost an art form and requires stupid cash ! . There always seems to be something a screen dont do right - noise/ buffetting / vision. TBH sometimes I think its best to get rid of it altogether! I always had a nice smooth airflow on my speed triple with just a flyscreen. But once you start sticking " barn doors" in front of you , thats when the problems start ! One day it will be fine...next there will be a crosswind which upsets steering....etc etc.
The vario on my gen1 works well simply cos it aint that tall....one person may say well it dont protect enuff...but at least its reasonably quiet and dont affect the bikes handling at all.I also have a DB screen  which works almost as well, but both are much less tall than this one.
Its a very neat piece of work though !

John the gs stock screen ain't good the GSA screen will cost you £300 notes alot of wonga a lot of folks say the givi airflow works just as well not sure of cost !

I've got mra on gen1 across Germany and back I'd say it's much better than my zero gravity db, and my preferred screen I leave it on all the time as the bike set for touring its only downside is I'm still get wind noise off my lid even with ear plugs it pisses me off.
