new lid - help please ! :) - Enceladus - 24-05-12 decided that i really need a new lid as the one i have is quite a few years old :eek trouble is, i don't really know what is out there. ideally i would like a flip up lid with a sun visor and would prefer it to be a "vibrant" colour ! (yellow, orange, etc.) any help would be appreciated. i'll be trying on the lid before i part with the hard earned, just need a bit of help finding what i am after ![]() thanks ![]() Re: new lid - help please ! :) - FuZzBoM - 24-05-12 Was you planning on opening a massive debate? :lol Arai and AGV tend to make really bright lids. i think it depends a lot to do with the shape of your head what brand you go for... i have a Shoei XR1100 mainly because i found it fitted my head the best. good luck and be sure to post a pic when you get it ![]() Re: new lid - help please ! :) - Enceladus - 24-05-12 not intentionally opening a mass debate ! ![]() my head shape isn't important at the moment really, i just don't know what is out there ![]() to give you an idea why i need to replace my lid.... it's an FM Simpsons one ! (best guess about 10 years old) :eek Re: new lid - help please ! :) - know your limitations - 24-05-12 I had the Caberg Konda for a year and wore it every day. It was superb! Nice specification, smart styling and 5 star safety rating. I was knocked of my old Fazer earlier this year and whacked my head on the car's roof at around 30 mph. Everything, including the flip held firm and my head escaped unscathed. Just replaced it through the insurance and had to go for it's successor, the "Caberg Duke" as couldn't find the same colour/size combo in the Konda. The Duke is even better still (although pricier) as you get a Pinlock ready visor and free Pinlock insert. I am completely sold on the Pinlock concept now, it REALLY works! The Duke also has dual homologation, which basically means it is EU approved to legally ride with the flip raised or lowered (Konda is closed only). Ref: sizing, I would recommend 1 size down from what your head measurement turns out to be. The foam linings sculpt to the shape of your head pretty quickly and can give a looser fit if you've gone for exactly what the tape measure says. This happened to me on my Konda. After 3 months, I needed to wear a thin balaclava to maintain the right fit. This worked great during the Winter..... but if I was still doing it in this heat?!!! My head size is 59cm but went from large (59-60) in the Konda to medium (57-58) in the new Duke and the fit is now perfect. If you're not measuring and trying on instore, definitely at least try the size down too from what you think is comfy. Colour wise, there's a cross over in prices because Caberg seem to charge a healthy premium for their Hi-Viz Model. Hope this helps ![]() Re: new lid - help please ! :) - fazercol - 25-05-12 I have just bought the new shoei neotech flipfront with the sun visor.
