lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - eddie - 22-05-12 do not buy pattern brake seals...the fekkers swell with contact to dot 4 brake fluid and the pistons are then wedged so tight you need 4 weetabix and a crow bar to get em out ...get yamaha oe any thing else at your peril Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - CRH - 22-05-12 what make are they mate?....ive just bought a set off ebay?..not used em yet though? clive Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - Dave48 - 22-05-12 When I overhauled the brakes on mine I ordered Nikone pattern seals. The fronts were a tad awkward unlike Yamaha that always pop straight in. As for the rear-I ended up fitting OEM in the end. Lesson learnt. Its Yamaha seals only from now on. Same applies to master cylinder overhaul kits. Im happy to buy pattern filters but want my stoppers to be the best they can be! ![]() Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - Falcon 269 - 22-05-12 I also had issues with a Nikone front caliper seal recently. Partly due to operator error, I suspect, but they're not the easiest to fit. Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - eddie - 22-05-12 CRH got them from these peeps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Caliper-Seals-Set-Yamaha-FZS1000-Fazer-02-04-/190612070227?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2c615d5f53 Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - CRH - 22-05-12 cheers eddie! didnt get them from there? ...but they are that nikone brand?...think ile leave em and use yam? not worth the risk???? Re: lesson learnt..the hard way through the wallet - AyJay - 22-05-12 I rebuilt the callipers last year and the genuine seals were 100 quid odd. Nearly shat mesen at the price. Makes me feel better having spent all that, sorry to say. |
