Time to get the fazer readyy !! - Kinggy - 13-05-12

After 5 months of stupidly getting disqualified It's time for me to get my bike ready for june 22nd Big Grin

Basically the main thing that i've got to do is replace my engine and i'm asking whether anyone has done this and could possible give me a step by step guide if it's not to much trouble.

Also i've noticed as she's been sat outside for a few months the brakes are sticking, took her for a little half mile run, got back and the discs where red hot and i'm guessing, Come MOT time it's probably going to fail on this.

Is there anything I should do to the brakes to try and free them up a bit, or is it a sort of thing that would kind of fix its self as she starts riding again?

Any help would be muchly appreciated as i've only got a month really to get her back and ready Big Grin

Cheers in advance

take the calipers off and give them a dam good clean working the pistons in and out several times

Engine swap is pretty straightforward, just a lot of disconnecting and moving things out of the way. Ideally you'll have a friend on hand to help with manoeuvring the lump out (of the right-hand side of the frame), but it can be done single-handed if you've enough bits of wood to use as wedges and levers.

Brakes. Yes, as Red suggested, clean up the calipers. They may need new seals.

Cheers guys !

Yes will have a friend help me out with the engine as he's training to be a bike mechanic so it's just a bit of practice for him really, but may I ask why it's got to be out the right side of the frame? Or is that a silly question ??

And the brakes, I may leave that to the guy doing the mot then, As if i mess around with the brakes, All kinds of things could happen and .... well could end badly so I'm going to play safe on that one Big Grin

Cheers once again
