rear wheel bearing help required please gen 1 - fazer6868 - 07-05-12 Hi all Just got my 134 k gen1 recovered 550 miles due to rear wheel bearing failure!!! got mcn atricle on how to replace and mates have also told me ( in general terms not for fazer specifically). Cannot remove existing bearings with a large screwdriver head and hammer, i.e. whacking handle of screwdriver with hammer with bottom of screwdriver on lip of inside of bearing ( circlip and oil seals are out )..any ideas what i am doing wrong please? Thanks guys Re: rear wheel bearing help required please gen 1 - paul1606 - 07-05-12 The sprocket drive bearing should drift out, the roller bearing on one side of the wheel should also drift out (remember to remove the retaining circlip first)the needle roller bearing is best described as A BITCH i had to dremel a slit in it & split it first to remove as there is very little lip on the inside to knock it out, others have various ways to remove this as i seem to remember reading on another thread Re: rear wheel bearing help required please gen 1 - ghostbiker - 07-05-12 I allways end up taking my rear wheel to my local spanner to get the last bearing out. i have never managed it and he normaly end up cutting it out or taking a chunk out of the wheel lol Front one is easy though ![]() Re: rear wheel bearing help required please gen 1 - mcyoungy - 07-05-12 With wheel bearings I've always poured a kettle of boiling water onto the wheel around them and they generally pull out with your finger.
