importing FZ1-N ABS to the US - ludwig - 30-04-12

I wonder if anybody might help me with some info

I own a 2008 FZ1-N ABS which i would like to bring with me from Switzerland to OH, USA
Was told that the US authorities require some kind of certificate, which states that this bike conforms to US regulations.

How and where i might be able to get such certificate?

Hi,
If it is in any way the same process as importing a car you will a 'Certificate of Conformity', which you should be able to obtain from Yamaha themselves. They should be your first port of call. I had to get one when I imported a car to France from the UK, but it cost £100 just for a poxy sheet of A4 with the cars details on it, that I had to supply them from the VIN plate and the log book! However the car was (is) nearly 20 years old so was not on their (VW) database, given you have a gen2, max age 6yrs old, it maybe an easier process to get the certificate, and hopefully cheaper too.
Good luck
