Irish rain is wetter than English! - Dave48 - 28-04-12

A few summers ago I set off from Wicklow in bright sunshine only to experience monsoon conditions crossing the mountains to Dublin.
Still remember sheltering under a tree with boots full of water, lighter that refused to work and totally demoralised by "wet underpant" syndrome. However later that day found me riding west towards Galway & a beautiful sunset. Moral? No pain no gain?

Loved riding in Ireland- must go back on day

Friendly drivers who use their mirrors and pull into the hard shoulder to let you past letting you make progress  Wink

First time I went for 2 weeks tour round with another friend both riding solo. Was impressed with courtesy on N roads-as you say they pull over to wide hard shoulder-had to watch for potholes though! The Wicklow day was the only really wet one. Second time was 2005 and rode with my lovely(Welsh) partner. We had a heatwave that week. Sadly she developed cancer & died in 2008. I took a solo trip back to Ireland 2 months later & it rained torrents but not all day every day. What a beautiful country when the  Smile sun shines!

No, the moral of the story is life's always sunnier when you're heading away from Dublin.....  Wink
