Daytona Boots - Tefer - 26-04-12 Hey, I bought some Daytona Boots from Hein-Gericke, i was reading the instructions on care and it said to use their brand of polish to keep them from drying out and make them long lasting. I was thinking of buying it from link below: http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/daytona-neutral-leather-polish/146 I then seen a Water Preservative stuff from Daytona too, see below: http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/product/daytona-waterstop-preservative/327 My question is, should i buy both and can i apply both or will the polish suffice? I have normal boot dubbing in the house, not sure if this would work as boots are Gore-Tex, want them to last as they were not cheap. Any Thoughts Appreciated Re: Daytona Boots - mcyoungy - 26-04-12 The Gore-tex is in the lining, the outer is leather. If you like dubbin then I don't see why it would do any harm. Have to say I have never bothered treating mine and they last forever. Re: Daytona Boots - moffmeister - 26-04-12 had my Daytonas (GTX? goretex) for 5 years I've never polished then once! (and they are still as good as they were 5 yrs ago) ![]() Re: Daytona Boots - Pat - 27-04-12 (26-04-12, 08:40 PM)moffmeister link Wrote: had my Daytonas (GTX? goretex) for 5 years Bought mine at the NEC bike show in 1995, polished them maybe 3 or 4 times in the intervening 16.5 years & for 14 out of that 16.5 I had a 90 mile daily commute, had a couple of offs & they still look fine & more importantly they're still waterproof! ![]() Probably only get one more winter out of the soles though, fortunately Daytona do a resole service so no need to splash out on a new pair. 8) Re: Daytona Boots - Looney tune - 27-04-12 Get yourself some NIK-WAX, apply sparingly and not to often. If your boots get wet from a wet run do NOT dry them by a heater or fire etc, let them air dry, this will prolong the life of the leather. I wear gore-tex lined boots at work every day and they get a lot of punnishment and an odd coat of NIK-WAX keeps the leather subtle. Maker specific products are usualy a rip off.
