false neutral - ddtwelve - 23-04-12

Hi during my ride home today from work i noticed that when i pull the clutch in on any gear the neutral light comes on not as bright as when its in neutral but its got me rattled as the gearbox was very notchy today

anyone had the same problem??if so what can be done

Might sound daft - but you haven't got your clutch switch / neutral switch wiring rubbing together at any point?

You say it was notchy - what age / mileage? Last service? Any recent work? Any other symptoms?

Any fault codes coming up?

Re: false neutral - ddtwelve - 23-04-12

its a 05 reg 19000 miles comming up to service as i dont know when it was done as book wasent stamped but engine oil still clear not black, no fault codes so :eek

Have you lubed your chain recently - overlube can cause that but it usually goes away in a day or so.

Will see what happens tomoz as I dont use it everyday

Re: false neutral - Grahamm - 24-04-12

Sounds like the problem I had a while back, I think water got into the switch gear and the neutral light would stay on even when it was put into gear.

Eventually it sorted itself out.

Its just water in the electrics, it will stop when it dries out abit.  Mine always does it after I pressure wash it, it stops happening when it dries out  Smile

Agree, it's when it gets wet, had the problem myself.
