Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - wessiedave - 30-03-12 Has anyone fitted BMW / KTM type handguards to their Fazer? I've heard V Strom ones fit but I'd like clarification if poss, any ideas, Thanks Dave Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - fazer69 - 30-03-12 the v strom ones fit with a bit of trimming, if you look on the old site ive put some pictures on there last year. Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - tomlinscote - 30-03-12 yep i can confirm the v-strom ones workm i have them on mine and over winter they were a god-send even had to turn off the heated grips some days and i have the crappest circulation!!! Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - phil on a fazer - 30-03-12 if you go down the V-strom route i think you need to get the ones off the 650, pretty sure the 1000 are different. Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - tomlinscote - 30-03-12 I used the 650 ones but had to make a little extender, see other post for a much neater job than i did!! Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - fazer69 - 30-03-12 i got mine off ebay, alfordsfolk @ £48.95, theres sum on there now Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - tomlinscote - 30-03-12 That's what I paid for them from a suzuki dealer (Crescent in Southampton) Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - GrahamB - 30-03-12 I fitted KTM ones last year. Needed a bit of trimming to clear brake reservoir & standard clutch lever rubbed a bit. Got shorty levers now so wouldn't be a problem. Had to pack them out a bit with silicon hose where they bolt to bars. Looked okay but didn't think they suited the bike so took 'em off. Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - justy1 - 30-03-12 got ktm ones on mine. fitted on ok. justy1000 Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - wessiedave - 31-03-12 Thanks everyone for your info , I have a Givi touring screen so might suffer more with fouling ! I'll have a better look later and try and decide if it will be a major issue, thanks, Dave Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - tomlinscote - 31-03-12 I have a givi screen too and cant say it has caused any problems re fouling etc ![]() Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - wessiedave - 31-03-12 Thanks for that last comment too, I'll have a look on ebay and other suggested sites and get buying, cheers, Dave ![]() Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - wessiedave - 09-04-12 OK, got the vstrom 650 guards and fitting a doddle (heatgun on right guard reqd) but i can only just use the steering lock cos they fowl on the mirrors! I have seen somewhere on here a question regards mirror spacers but can't find it now :\ can anyone help? Ta, Dave Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - kebab19 - 09-04-12 Fuzzyone mirror mod worked for me Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - ghostbiker - 09-04-12 kebab have you tried the hand guards WITH the fuzzy mod? i want to add hand guards at some point when funds allow but although the guards clear with normal mirrors i think the fuzzy mod would lower them into the line of the guards at lock. havent tried it just was looking yesterday at how close my oxford muffs get to the fuzzy mod Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - wessiedave - 10-04-12 No idea what the fuzzy mod is but I'll have a search on here in a minute , thanks Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - kebab19 - 10-04-12 Yes my mirrors have been modded, slight fouling only between Left-Hand-Side handguard and screen This is with Renthal 758 bars fitted, 10mm trimmed off both ends If you want I can take pics of 'bars at full lock either side? Re: Fazer Gen 1 Hand guards ? - ghostbiker - 10-04-12 thx kebab, with the amount of time bars actualy use full lock a slight touch isnt a problem. it just suddenly hit me the other day that the fuzzy mod lowers the mirrors slightly so might make a diff. i WILL get round to doing the guards one day lol. its on a long list of todo ![]() |
