Fazer running issues - robbits - 22-03-12

I've noticed that when I start my FZS1000 up from cold the cooling fan runs whilst the bike is stood idling. As soon as 1st gear is selected the cooling fan stops. I've not done any fault finding yet but wondered if this is a common fault on these bikes or if anyone has any advice on how to cure it.
Also when stood at junctions with the bike in gear it feels like it's trying to creep forward, I suspect that this is clutch drag probably due to the oil needing changing but as it's done 36k it could be the clutch plates I suppose. It does seem to be quite hard to change down from 5th to 4th to 3rd gears as well. The chain is in good condition and correctly tensioned so I don't think it's this but I wonder if it could be the cush drive?
Finally, does anyone know where I can get the fairing graphics for my 2003 yellow FZ1000S?
Thanks in anticipation for any help.
Steve.

they all do that, theres a timer that starts the fan after a certain time idling in neutral

As to the clutch check adjustment is correct http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/clutchcableadjustment.html

then if that dont work then fresh oil semi synth

if that fails then you need to start to look deeper

as above wiv the fan they all do it

Yep, they all do that. Absolutely nothing to worry about. Some fazers when cold creep forward slightly, when clutch pulled in and given plenty of revs. Once engine warmed up it should disappear Smile

Re the graphics, probably your only source will be a Yamaha dealership.

Cush drives last really well and won't affect gearchange as you describe.  In addition to making sure the cable is correctly adjusted, check that the gear linkage is clean, lubed, properly aligned and moving as it should.

If the shifting issues persist it could be one of a number of internal clutch issues (none major Smile ) but sort the easy and obvious stuff first.

Might be worth sending OMF a PM as i know she was working on replica grafics a while back. dont know if she followed it up though.
else its yam dealers for the OE stickers

You can still get the fairing decals from the dealers I think there about £21 each side, however there is a chap on evil bay that sells decals for the gen 1 and tbh there ok and cheap as chips ive brought both sets previous only issue with the evilbay ones is if you polish the bike at lot like I Do!! the edges started to lift I've replaced my decals on the fairing now I brought some genuine Fazer 8 decals as they look much cleaner and look different.

Try these for fairing decals, you can email him and order your colour scheme etc.
