Hi, this works, get a cheep screen, drill a hole, fix a ram mount & away you go

Re: sat nav mount - Falcon 269 - 19-03-12

Hi and welcome. Smile

When I used that Aquabox set-up on mine it was mounted to the ball on the bar clamp exactly like you've got.  Worked fine.

I don't want to seem like I'm dissin' your idea but I'd keep a close eye for cracks around the hole you've drilled in the screen.  There's going to be a lot of vibration/bump induced load on that fixing due to the weight of the satnav and box, increased due to the leverage of the mounting arm.

I'd fit a short lanyard to the box for safety, just in case the whole lot drops off while you're on the move.  You don't want it bouncing off down the road or worse still, getting caught up in your steering. Wink

As mike said, the bounce from the sat nav on an arm will realy stress the screen. try adding a large rubber washer each side of the screen and a stainless penny washer on top of that.
that should spread the load better on the screen.

Had a mate that tried something along those lines (although he used 2 screws to hold a plate that then held an arm) screen split when he hit a pot hole. but that was on an old triumph and i think the original screen he had it on may have been brittle.
just something to think about though.

Feck me fella have you seen the state of the uk rds pot holed to hell and a heavy sat nav bouncing around on the ram !! 5 miles down the rd you'll have half a screen and ya sat nav will be long gone LoL

Cheers guys, ill do the rubber washer thing, i ususlly have the mount on the risers but find you have to look down to see it, where it is on the screen now is in full view.

Try this, an old pushbike light bracket with an old spare navman of mine, doesn't wobble or get in the way
