FOC-U Training Blog - Farjo - 21-02-12

Big Grin <--= this is what exercise does to you, we're all hooked on heroin!

So adeejaysdelight is doing a Tough Mudder in July, madmondeoman is doing a Triathlon in May and I'm doing 10k runs in June, July and August and the GNR in September.

How is everyone's training getting on and are there any other foccers in training for an athletic event this year?

Me I'm up to 3.3km so a third of the way there. I'm following the Couch to 5k plan for the beginning part and am on week 5. Over to you Smile

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Farjo - 21-02-12

:oops meant to link the Couch to 5k plan Smile

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - DryRob - 21-02-12

I went over the top booking things at the beginning of the year, I'm going to suffer but it's a good excuse to get in shape for one last season playing RL (getting too old now). I'm doing:

Hull marathon (April)
Peak 100miles (June)
Great North swim (June)
London sprint triathlon (Sept)

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - goldfazer - 21-02-12

Be nice if I'm fit enuff to do the 100 mile ride in June. Not sure I'd do it anyway though cos I don't like the route :lol

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Farjo - 21-02-12

DryRob :eek :eek :eek bloody hell! I take it you're well into your training?

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - madmondeoman - 21-02-12

Had an op on my neck at the weekend so training is on old. The swimming and the cycling are the easy part the running is the hard part of the Triathlon for me.

NHS Couch to 5k will work for me Smile

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - eddie - 21-02-12

yes and no, until the snow hit I was running in a morning to build up strength in my legs and managing some cardio at gym. That kind of got reversed when the snow hit and my training plan went to pot, I'm just getting out when I can now. I know I'll be able to drag myself around but I'd prefer to be able to walk afterwards, a few years back I did 14miles without any training and I couldn't walk properly for about a week  :lol . Haven't even thought about the other events yet apart from getting myself a road bike. I'm looking forward to the events but at the same time not, it's a very odd feeling.

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - GringoRojo - 21-02-12

might be doing a cycle ride in july - 100miles over two days coast to coast. did it last year... http://www.justgiving.com/rideofhope2011

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Tiberius Onklevaart - 21-02-12

This has become my routine until this week, where i landed on my tailbone and couldn't risk aggravating it.

This on a Monday and Thursday

Hybrid Academy of Martial Arts - Glasgow

Tuesday, upper body weight training at local sports centre

Wednesday, Football training with a local amateur league team

Friday rest at the minute but deciding whether to do more martial arts or more weights

Saturday, Tabata (high intensity interval training) based fitness at the Martial Arts gym

Sunday rest and recovery.

None of that as long as my back is still out but taking anti inflammatory's to try and get me set for Saturday.

Here's hoping

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - adeejaysdelight - 22-02-12

Been getting up at 7am latest for a 5m run every day bar Sunday. Unless I'm nightshift, in which case I go running when I come in at 6am. Circuit training 3 - 4 days a week. Skipping (no laughing at the back) 1-1.5 hrs per week over 3 sessions. Free running with a pack up a small mountain or big hill once a week. Cycling 100km a week. Weight training 3-4 days a week. I would like to go back to the boxing, but unfortunatley I had major surgery last June and my consultant says NO!  Sad

No refined sugar. No alcohol. No smoking. No fatty foods.

I have easily lost half a stone of excess weight. I was not fat, but I don't need to carry it either.

All in all, I feel great and will see it through. Although I am looking forward to a couple of cream eclairs and a beer or 9 on the 15th of July  Big Grin

Tough Mudder Training

Not for any event, but I do 30 minutes cardio on my Cross Trainer most days and Body Combat at the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Since I actually started paying attention to what I'm eating, I've lost 7kg (over a stone) since last September Smile

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - bigralphie - 22-02-12

I really need to get back to the gym my weight has been creeping up again.
I just find it really hard to go when its dark , after being at work for 10 hours (with traveling time)

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Tiberius Onklevaart - 22-02-12

Great video that, deejay

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Slaninar - 23-02-12

1 month some bad bloody flu.

Then Achilles tendon pull.
Then fucked my knee on snow/ice

Now flu again.

Hope in a few weeks time I'll be able to ride bicycle and do some sort of exercises at least. Worst winter healthwise EVER! 33 years soon - must be that. Smile

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Farjo - 04-06-12

* UPDATES *

My first event (Hull 10k) was yesterday :\ Have had injuries and only ran once in the previous month, and got another injury half way round :rolleyes so in the end was just glad to finish. Looking forward to sorting the injuries and completing the next one in a month Smile

So how about you lot? I see many of your events have happened so how did they go and how is the training going?

Re: FOC-U Training Blog - Tori - 04-06-12

Well done to those of you doing/completing all these events!
Another one in a month Frazer?  :eek
I have been to the gym this morning, on a bank holiday monday! No events for me, just shifting some weight Smile
