Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 17-01-12 Never needed one befor as I always made sure that I did not leave it too long between rides but I have just had a starting problem and now need one what do you think of this Hein Gericke Professional battery charger this one --http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/hein-gericke-professional-battery-charger-fur-motorrad-und-auto.html Re: Help me find a battery charger - Bracechenko - 17-01-12 Get an Optimate 4, there is no substitute plain and simple. It'll do everything you need, is durable and well built and will condition / recover most batteries unless they're completely shagged http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPTIMATE-4-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-CAR-VAN-CARAVAN-LEISURE-BATTERY-CHARGER-12V-/250889003173?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3a6a2660a5 Re: Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 17-01-12 Ok 1 tick in the box for that one ---any others Re: Help me find a battery charger - richfzs - 17-01-12 just another vote for Optimate, you wont regret it... Re: Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 17-01-12 Will it do my carr when needed too Re: Help me find a battery charger - Bracechenko - 17-01-12 IIRC it'll do small car batteries but for high ampage big car batteries it might struggle to fully recharge a dead one. Worth checking that. Visordown recently did a review of 7 different battery chargers here... http://www.visordown.com/product-features/7-motorcycle-battery-chargers/19783.html Re: Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 17-01-12 reading now Re: Help me find a battery charger - topgun44 - 18-01-12 Optimate are crap I have 2 over the years first one optimate 3 that keep charger the batteries dry so got the optimate 4 and yes did the same again I went and saw a battery expert and he told me he was getting people coming in saying that they battery don't keep the charger any more went they use so call chargers and he told me and other people who come to his shop is get good changer. Give it full changer take it off your bike bring it indoor if it cold out side and you can leave for good 3 months and it should be fine to start your bike I been doing this for last few years and been fine saving me buying a new battery ever year :eek Re: Help me find a battery charger - Bracechenko - 18-01-12 Sounds like you've had a bad experience but wouldn't say Optimate are crap as you're the first negative comment i've heard in a general flood of only good stuff and recommendations so something individual happened with you I reckon? Re: Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 18-01-12 New update Today I have just got a yamaha branded one YEC-40 make by ctec 3 years grntee will also charge car batterys £65. There is another one at £45 with lower spec and not charge cars. I just wanted it today so could not wait for ebay otherwise it would of been an optimate 4 at around £45. Progress report in my "wont start thread" Re: Help me find a battery charger - ZiggyCol - 18-01-12 Check out ctek. They do a whole range. Mine is an older model than the current range but has performed faultlessly on car and bike. Much superior to the Oxford/Optimate types I've had previously. Re: Help me find a battery charger - fazersharp - 18-01-12 Yep my above last post says it Turns out its a CTEK 5.0 just with yamaha branding hope I get on ok with it just like you Re: Help me find a battery charger - Oxygen - 18-01-12 Cheap and cheerful look on UK hot deals for review http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/index_27894.htm http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/car-battery-charger-electronically-controlled-also-for-motor-cycle-boat-batteries-1119899#comments |
