Off topic - Bluetooth question for phones in cars - locksmith - 06-01-12

Got bluetooth built in to my Vauxhall vivaro. I've had a recurring issue where my SonyErricsson phone seems to delete the stored BT settings for the van. It doesn't happen every time, maybe once a week, maybe three times a day!  I have to delete the phone from the vans memory and pair them again.
I reloaded the phone software and it seemed to do the trick for a while but it started again.

Got a new car with bluetooth and paired the phone to that all has been ok.

Yesterday it did it again in the van. I had been assuming it was the phone but the cars BT settings are still in the phone where as the vans settings have been deleted again, so is it the van doing it or the phone??

how new is the van compared to the phone? what i mean is did you have this problem in van with your old phone?

csn you reset the blue tooth settings in the van like you have with your phone?

do you have a colleague that uses ur van that they could see if theirs works?

could be a combination of both!

Probably the phone.
Had similar problems in my Seat with my old Blackberry.
It wouldn't always pair up.
Changed the phone for a new model Blackberry and hey presto, never had the problem ever again!

Both van and car are newer than the phone.
I used to use BT on my garmin sat nav in the van but that was a nightmare and kept locking up so thinking about it, the phone is the common denominator.
Wonder why the car bt settings remained in the phone whilst the vans deleted themselves again?

Keep thinking I must change the phone but I'm too tight :lol

If its a brand new van with factory Bluetooth I'd take it back to Vauxhall Dealer. We see some wiring faults on Vivaro's occasionally.
Is the radio storing stations in memory?
It may be a software issue with the radio as Vivaro's use older Vauxhall ice.
Im not aware of any Bluetooth issues with Vauxhall.
Try the dealer. If they can't find fault it may be the phone.

Yes, new van (6 months ago) and the radio is fine. If it starts happening again I'll try a new phone first (I don't use fancy expensive phones!) as I can see the dealer route being frustrating in that I'll arrange to drop the van off at great inconvienence to be told "we couldn't find anything wrong sir"  :rolleyes

Some bluetooth what's it's only allow ONE device at a time, just a thought.

I always get issues with them mostly they go very quite next time to pair the same phone it blows yours ear off, right odd.

Problem with Bluetooth is that some manufactorers only like certain devices and then they have to have the correct Operating System. Check on Vaxhaull website or with dealer to see if your phone is compatible. It may not be due to age/operating system etc
