Sprockets and stuff - 1967fazer - 02-12-11 Can anyone tell me the standard sizes are for the front and rear sprockets on a 5lv and also if its best to change the front or the rear? I think some one mentioned having to fit a speedo corrector thingy when you put different sized sprockets on, is this correct? Re: Sprockets and stuff - Falcon 269 - 02-12-11 16/44 Everything you need to know about different sprocket ratios is covered here: http://www.cartestsoftware.com/fz1/47toothrearsprocketinstallation.html Changing the sprocket sizes will affect speedo accuracy. You can fit a correction device if you wish. See Pat's Site re the Yellow Box installation. ![]() Re: Sprockets and stuff - ghostbiker - 02-12-11 i went 2 bigger on the rear and fitted a speedo healer to compensate for the sprocket and the built in manufactors error http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ Re: Sprockets and stuff - dekker555 - 02-12-11 Has anyone any idea what the built in error amounts to, I shouldn't think it's anything worth bothering about as the speedo can't be read that accurately anyway, especially in sunlight. Bet Mike can hardly read his at all! Re: Sprockets and stuff - Falcon 269 - 02-12-11 (02-12-11, 09:04 PM)dekker555 link Wrote: Bet Mike can hardly read his at all! You're right. Should have gone to SpecSavers ... :rollin Re: Sprockets and stuff - dekker555 - 02-12-11 Was referring to the sunshine you'r lucky enough to ride around in more than your eyesight Mike! I got the original gag, Dekker. Just twisted it a bit for the comeback. ![]() November was unusually rainy so my riding took a hit. Looking better for next week, though. ![]() Re: Sprockets and stuff - 1967fazer - 10-12-11 Thanks for the replies folks, was planning on changing said C&S, but having now lost my job, I will have to put it off for now! :'( Re: Sprockets and stuff - paul.s - 11-12-11 i bought a +2 rear sprocket and the bloody chain is too short and as the bikes only done 2k im loath to buy a new chain anybody know where i could buy a link and 2 soft links and would it be ok having 2 soft links only 1 link apart Re: Sprockets and stuff - Fazerider - 11-12-11 (11-12-11, 05:35 PM)paul.s link Wrote: i bought a +2 rear sprocket and the bloody chain is too short and as the bikes only done 2k im loath to buy a new chain anybody know where i could buy a link and 2 soft links and would it be ok having 2 soft links only 1 link apartYou might have already tried this, but the chain may be long enough if you fit it over the rear sprocket before sliding the wheel spindle through. Re: Sprockets and stuff - paul.s - 13-12-11 thats how i tried doing it cant quite get the wheel far enough back to get the spindle in thats with the adjusters all the way in ![]() |
