gen 1 engine size - wraith600 - 24-11-11

can any one help with the dimensions of the gen i engine as ime thinking of an engine swap in me 6  :evil  thx

Re: gen 1 engine size - dekker555 - 24-11-11

How on earth do you find a "size" for an engine? Surely you need engineering drawings to compare (if anyone has such things) or be asking if anyone else has done it or tried it already. I would have thought a far simpler and quicker solution would be to sell it and buy a thou. Best wishes with whatever you decide.

Re: gen 1 engine size - ghostbiker - 24-11-11

i take it all your affter is the dimensions you listed on the pics

IE:
A=
B=
etc
useing the lines you marked?
Off the top of my head i would say not a chance in hell it will fit, but i cant say i have tried lol

Re: gen 1 engine size - wraith600 - 25-11-11

thats it ... as its never been done to my knowledge i need as much info as possible it may  be that it wont fit like a gsxr 7/11 or a b6/12 without major surgery in that case its a dead end . if it will then my 6 is allready 180kg wet add another 40 + hp and   thx for any help

Re: gen 1 engine size - PaulSmith - 28-11-11

Why not just get an R6 instead? 130+hp, 160KGs.

Re: gen 1 engine size - solorider - 28-11-11

You could get a fazer thou and fit a early fazer 6 fairing, probably a lot easier and you keep the looks of the 600

Re: gen 1 engine size - Fazerider - 29-11-11

You appear to be the first person crazy enough to contemplate this.
Frankly, having taken the existing engine in and out myself a couple of times, it seems unlikely that there would be room for a bigger one.
If a thou can be squeezed in without hacksawing out inconvenient bits of chassis, the exhaust ports may well have the wrong spacing for the frame and, even if they don't, the constraint imposed by alignment of the drive sprocket could cause them to clash with the frame anyway.
A few measurements taken beforehand may prove the job to be impossible, but if you're unlucky they won't and you'll only discover something makes it so when you actually try it.

Re: gen 1 engine size - PaulSmith - 29-11-11

Nothing old skool about the looks of your bike, very highly tricked up I would said.

Ok, so do you want 'that sort' of look, or that 'exact' look. If 'exact' is important, consider big bore or nitrous, but if it is just that sort of look, and you are on a budget, you could consider a street fighter R6? Or you could buy a Gen1

Re: gen 1 engine size - Kosmic Kartman - 29-11-11

Big square peg, smallish round hole comes to mind. As mentioned exhaust headers and sprocket alignment will probably throw the biggest spanner in the works.

Nitrous is a bit impracticle for every day road use. To run Nos effectively you'll need a bottle heater, temp or pressure gauges, plus all the plumbing. This has to run at 700 - 900 psi (70F - 85F) to really get a bang for your buck. Not hot enough and the motor runs rich causing performance loss. To hot and it can burn lean and also wreck performance. It's a bit hit and miss.

turbo? Smile

Re: gen 1 engine size - AyJay - 29-11-11

Mmmm. Wraight, there's something very Godier Genoud about that Fazer 600. I like it. I wonder if it would't be better to grab a few bits and bobs and pop them on a Gen 1.
