assembling new clutch - scousy - 04-10-11 Hi guys , i'm after some help again :rolleyes , i have just bought a new clutch complete (steels & friction plates) as my old one was dragging alot and appeared to be a mix and match affair (previous owners ? ) now the problem i have is because someone else has been in there before me i do not know if the 2 small rings ( clutch boss spring and seat )are facing the correct way as they are slightly curved also which way around do the steels face as they have one face that is very slightly rounded , it does not show on the parts manual and i have no Haynes , any help gratefully accepted ![]() cheers Jeff Re: assembling new clutch - Aegis Bearing Mel - 04-10-11 Hi bud, if you have a look at the downloads section at the top of the page there should be a pdf of the workshop manual for your bike. ![]() Re: assembling new clutch - scousy - 04-10-11 done that fella , it doesn't mention the orientation of the steels or 2 spring plates ? Re: assembling new clutch - Aegis Bearing Mel - 04-10-11 Doh. To my eye it looks from the diagrams on 5-38 and 5-39 that they should sit like ))))| but I'm famous for foccin' things up when it comes to spannering. Hence the DIY Disaster title... Re: assembling new clutch - pinkbikerfzs1 - 04-10-11 On my manual it shows the flat spring plate on the hub first, with the concave shaped one on next, with the inner edge touching that one, sort of like this / , does that make sense, i could probably send you a page from the manual? see if i can give it a go.. :lol Re: assembling new clutch - pinkbikerfzs1 - 04-10-11 Can't do it but its page 5-42, shows a section through middle of clutch assembly, PM me if you still struggling. Re: assembling new clutch - solorider - 04-10-11 all i can tell you is what the pictures show,i have never taken a fazer clutch apart yet but i will be doing my clutch plates in the near future Re: assembling new clutch - scousy - 04-10-11 i do appreciate your help , thanks ![]() Re: assembling new clutch - pinkbikerfzs1 - 06-10-11 Always bear in mind that someone may have dismantled the clutch before and put the wrong part back, had this recently on my brothers ex-ebay cheap cb500, it would'nt set off without judder and jerk, so pulled it to bits, it has similar parts to the fazer and both were as part no 2! put the right bits back and its now fine.. If anything, i would put the washers back in with no1 facing no 2 .. good luck!! :rolleyes Re: assembling new clutch - scousy - 07-10-11 yeah i think this is what has happened to mine which is why i'd like to get it right this time as the new clutch cost me £142 :\ , will try putting No1 facing same way as No2 (spoons) and give it a go |
