Model numbers - Farjo - 24-12-10 Shamelessly stolen from Rob2222: I know this model numbers: FZ6-N == Model 2004-2006 Naked FZ6-S == Model 2004-2006 with fairing FZ6-NA == Model 2004-2006 Naked & ABS (Anti Lock System) FZ6-SA == Model 2004-2006 with fairing & ABS (Anti Lock System) FZ6-NHG(W) == New S2 Model 2007 Naked (W marks Australian version) FZ6-SHG(W) == New S2 Model 2007 with fairing (W marks Australian version) FZ6-NAHG == New S2 Model 2007 Naked & ABS (Anti Lock System) FZ6-SAHG == New S2 Model 2007 with fairing & ABS (Anti Lock System) Then there are the US models: FZ6-SS FZ6-SSC I've found in different Yamaha PDF's too: FZ6-S (Europe South Africa) FZ6-SV (Australia) FZ6-ST (U49/Canada) FZ6-STC (California) FZ6-NHG (Europe/South Africa) FZ6-NHGW (Australia) FZ6-SS© From the US Manual 2004. FZ6-ST© From the US Manual 2005. FZS6-V© From the US Manual 2006. FZS6-W© From the US Manual 2007. FZS6-X© From the US Manual 2008. FZS6-Y© From the US Manual 2009. This looks for me that in SS and ST the 2nd letter stands for the year. And then they changed the system and V-Y stands for the year. (What happens 2011??) Oh dear. Well, it looks like: A = ABS (Anti Lock System) C = California Version HG = The 2007 new S2 model. (Why H AND G?) X = The 2007 new S2 model in the US. N = Naked S = Fairing V = Australian Version W = Australian Version BR Robert Re: Model numbers - dolau - 16-09-11 Is there a list of serial numbers for the FZ6 anywhere? I have a 2009 but just niggling doubt that it is the 2008 bike although it has many of the 2009 bits and pieces Cheers Re: Model numbers - flesh - 19-09-11 Was not aware that there were differences between the '08 S2 and the '09 model? Am I wrong on this? Re: Model numbers - dolau - 20-09-11 I dont know I think the S2 2009 was always 98 bhp or something like that but the 2008 had the option of the 77bhp which I think ended up in the FJ6 Diversion I dont have ABS Re: Model numbers - flesh - 20-09-11 Some apparent "facts" about the FZ6 model revisions. What this suggests is the FZ6 S2 was supplied with 98bhp but the European FZ6 (non S2) only had 77bhp which is the engine used in the Divvy. Details below: 2006 revision The FZ6 in 2006 has a revised engine, frame, subframe, grabhandle, rear swingarm and wheels are painted in black. It had a metal honeycomb type catalytic converter satisfies EU2 and CARB emissions standards, and optimized fuel injection (FI) system mapping to increase torque at lower engine speeds 2007 revision The FZ6 received optimized fuel injection (FI) system mapping, redesigned fairing and windscreen, new instrument cluster with analog tachometer and digital speedometer (similar to the FZ1), new four-piston monoblock brake calipers for the front brake, alumite-finished front forks with revised damping, a three-way catalytic converter, a new seat design, a new rear swingarm, and new passenger footpegs. European versions other than the S2 have reduced power of 78 hp (58 kW). 2008 revision The 2008 model is technically unchanged from 2007. The only difference is in appearance of front cowling around the headlights, which is now black regardless of motorcycle colour. The European model 'FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS' has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier (Dry Weight 191 kg). 2009 revision The 2009 model (introduced on September 8, 2008) is technically unchanged from 2008/2007 except for the addition of the FZ6R. The European model 'FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS' has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier (Dry Weight 191 kg). 2010 revision For the 2010 model year, Yamaha continued to sell the FZ6 Fazer S2 (half-faired) and FZ6 S2 (naked) in Europe. Both have full power (98 PS) and ABS. Reduced power models have been discontinued and replaced with the XJ6 Diversion (half-faired) and XJ6 (naked); both have optional ABS. In North America, the FZ6R replaces the FZ6. The FZ6R in North America is similar to the XJ6 Diversion, except it is fully faired. Re: Model numbers - dolau - 22-09-11 Yes- I have the black headlamp covers so 2008 onwards and no other difference anyway- thanks for that Love mine! and a weekend away awaits- mid Wales to Wiltshire and back Re: Model numbers - Manny-FZ6 - 07-06-15 I'm confused because my FZ-6 papers state under model number "RJ14" or "RJ148" in between the very long ID number, which would make it a 2007 FZ6 model, but while the bike itself is painted black, those motor parts, which are supposed to be blackened out in 2007 models, are silver still. I also have 98hp not 78hp. *scratches head* I was trying to find out the exact model year etc because the previous owners made some modifications to the bike and I wanted to be sure what I purchased. Re: Model numbers - Manny-FZ6 - 18-06-15 Took some photographs of the bike in order to better determine what type & model year it should or could be...2007 or 2006? Also I wonder what type of case might have been sitting on top of the back there, that whole assemblyx looks like a DIY job upon closer inspection. |
