Just buy a stopcock key, less than a tenner(B&Q, Screwfix etc) and turn the water supply to your house, off in the street. :thumbup

Although I did end up snapping the tap head off and they had to come out and replace it with a modern plastic one -- oh and also replace the lampost which was concrete and too close to the hole :lol . Since the new fitting I have found that I can just reach it with my hand to turn off.

Piece of square metal tube..."luxury". In my day we had to make do with 3 paper straws and some chewing gum.

Years ago I had an accident in which my mini ended up bouncing off a lampost which in turn keeled over,and the council charged me for it!
