Re: Whoever posts last is best - robbo - 13-06-22 Nice, glad you like it, even more so as it's all your own work, as Mike did mine. I like the way it pulls so cleanly out of slow uphill corners, as well as the top end rush of course. On the tyre front, Red Ceri of this parish, put me on to the Metz Roadtec 01's, which have now morphed into the 01 SE. Not cheap, but they are very confidence inspiring in all road conditions. If I tried an alternative it would be the M9RR from the same company and recommended on the Tracer forum. Tyres are so very expensive of late, but you've gotta have them ![]() Re: Whoever posts last is best - fazerscotty - 14-06-22 (13-06-22, 04:54 PM)robbo link Wrote: Nice, glad you like it, even more so as it's all your own work, as Mike did mine. Tyres are so very expensive of late, but you've gotta have them It came with Angel GT's, which were worn but rideable. I then fitted PR 2's, which I found really good. I have tried Metz Z6's, which was a laugh. Changed the way it handled to something more akin of a BMW! Currently got PR 4's on. Was thinking of the Avon XM Storms, but........ Re: Whoever posts last is best - Captain Haddock - 15-06-22 I tried a pair of conti road attack 3's on my TDM850 and it transformed the feel, so much more confidence in the corners now and they don't need scrubbing in. How come they don't need scrubbing in. I thought all tyres had some sort of "release agent" residue left over from the molding process. Tyre fitters always give the "take it easy for the first 100 miles or so", advice. Re: Whoever posts last is best - Grahamm - 15-06-22 I don't know about any other manufacturers, but Bridgstone say that they don't use a release agent. Personally, I wait for a dry day when I have to get a new tyre, then go for a ride along the motorway to wear in the centre line, then do arcing lane changes to start working in the sides. After that, I head out to the twisties, gradually increasing the speed through the turns until I'm getting towards the edges. Fitting the Ivans kit has transformed the way the bike runs and accelerates out of corners and roundabouts. Pushed it a bit the other evening and found it has a huge surge at around 7k and I mean a real surge :eek Re: Whoever posts last is best - robbo - 19-06-22 Glad you're enjoying the fruits of your labour. Very satisfying. On the new tyre scrubbing in subject, I'm quite happy to gently scrub in for the first 100 miles or so irrespective of any contrary advice. After all, I'll be paying for any damage if it all goes wrong. :eek Re: Whoever posts last is best - fazerscotty - 19-06-22 (19-06-22, 10:31 AM)robbo link Wrote: Glad you're enjoying the fruits of your labour. I would really like to try the Avon's, but no one on here seems to have done so yet. :'( Still got a few miles left in the rear so it's not mega urgent.......... :lol Re: Whoever posts last is best - Captain Haddock - 25-06-22 I stuck a pair of conti road attack 3's on my TDM 850 and no scrubbing in required, transformed the feel and just seems to hang on like something brown and squidgy to a blanket right from the start, I'd reccomend. I've gotten about a 1000 miles left on the PR 4's - going to enjoy those :rollin :rollin :rollin Re: Whoever posts last is best - robbo - 07-07-22 That’s a good price. My rear Roadtec 01 SE was £190 fitted and balanced to a loose wheel. What do you pay for fitting where you are?.
