RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 13-11-25 Yippee…..back on the Fazer today. Distance eyesight pin sharp now after cataract ops, and speedo etc easy to read as well. Booked my entry and camping tickets for next years Le Mans 24 endurance, so at least one decent ride sorted for the future. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - b1k3rdude - 13-11-25 As there was a break in the weather, I fitted new front wheel bearings to my (not fazer) Bandit 1250. Bloody r/h wheel spacer has a groove it from the dust seal+grit, so it had been letting in water over the last 2 years. Hey Robbo, great to hear it went well and your back riding. :-) RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 14-11-25 (13-11-25, 07:57 PM)robbo Wrote: Yippee…..back on the Fazer today. How was the cataract problem picked, a rip to the opticians, had you noticed the gradual loss of longer vision. Asking because my last opticians visit , he mentioned keeping an eye on cataract development so I assumed he must have spotted something, but I sort of shrugged the comment off RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 14-11-25 (14-11-25, 07:04 AM)HarryHornby Wrote: Hey Robbo, great to hear it went well and your back riding. :-) Thanks HH, I’ll post the Whitstable Toy Run details soon, in case you can make it. I was using a pair of very expensive Carl Zeiss lensed distance glasses, purely for bike riding. On my most recent regular eye sight appointment in early September, the optician couldn’t offer any suitable lenses, and so referred me for the operation. Fortunately I had kept up membership to a poor man’s Bupa, which swerved the 3 to 4 month wait for an nhs examination to determine suitability for the cataract op. As with the nhs I was offered either distance or close up lenses. Vary focal are available at additional personal cost. I’ m perfectly happy with my distance choice, each eye done separately, 4 weeks apart. Just waiting now for another check up with the optician, firstly to pass on their findings to the hospital on the most recently operated eye, and secondly to ascertain a suitable reading glass prescription. I may just rely on decent “off the peggers” for reading. If you are offered the procedure, just say yes, it’s a real game changer, not just for bike riding. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 04-02-26 MOT day today, no problems, so all set for hopefully another season of fun and frolics. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Faze2 - 04-02-26 Looking at my numberplate through the summer house window waiting for the snow to end so i can wend. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - kralik - 10-02-26 I fit my completely refurbished and set up carbs to 1000. Just few step ahead and will try to hit starter button to see how it is going. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 10-03-26 A bit late in posting, but had a whizz out to Peacehaven on Saturday. A biker friend of ours is in a nursing home in that area. Sadly only in his 60’s but is not in a good way. He met us at the front door after seeing the bikes arrive from the day room, wearing his favourite GSXR t-shirt and a big smile on his face. Dementia is an awful illness, even more so maybe in someone so young. Fortunately he was “with us” during our visit, as expected, bikes were the common ground for discussion. To me he’s the bloke who could wheelie for miles. It was good to get out. The forecast was dry which was mainly true, but the road surface was wet from start to finish, but was not a problem. Can’t believe how little I’ve been out this year, but Le Mans 24 hour is next month, so that will be one decent ride to look forward to at least. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 10-03-26 I'm envious, its 3 months now since I last rode. My hands are now worse than at any previous point in time, I can't even move the clutch lever let alone pull it in. You're absolutely right about Dementia, I've recently seen my brother in law go into a nursing home after slowly drifting into almost a semi conscious state. I saw a item on the news this evening regarding the number of people who are admitted to hospital after taking washing up tablets and the like and it brought home memories of my late Mother. We took her to A&E on day after complaining about stomach pains, and it was when we were at her place late that day checking out her asthma medicine to take to the hospital that the penny dropped. She'd been taking the capsules that fit into the ventilator orally and had consumed nearly all of her prescription that way. Pretty lucky she never had a dishwasher really bless her. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 10-03-26 That must have been a very scary time for you. It is a sad fact that due to the nature of the illness, the persons condition can be made worse by inadvertent mistakes. There seems to be a situation now, that virtually everyone knows someone who is affected by this, one way or another. Regarding your restricted hand movement, what is the prognosis. Is time the healer, or is surgery the only way forward. It must be so frustrating, as I expect you’d normally be pencilling in a few track days around this time of the year. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 11-03-26 Yes, I was hoping to get a half dozen or so in this Spring/Summer, but I cant even think about booking until I can move my fingers again. Its Osteo Arthritis thats the problem, bone on bone with the tendons snagging and locking on the joints. The last time I went private, the Consultant said I neede to consideer the joint replacement scenario, but the results are not very encouraging once I investigated. On a slightly brighter note, I harassed my GP last week about it, and within a week the June/July waiting time was shortened to a mid April consultants appointment, likely to lead to another series of cortisone injections a couple of weeks later, or possibly more trigger finger releases. The problems wont disappear on their own, and the injections last less longer each time, eventually leading to the tendons becoming weaker. But I keep reminding myself that there are many much worse off than me RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 11-03-26 (11-03-26, 10:00 AM)agricola Wrote: Yes, I was hoping to get a half dozen or so in this Spring/Summer, but I cant even think about booking until I can move my fingers again. I suppose like a lot of repeated treatments, their effectiveness becomes less and less unfortunately. Hopefully you can get some relief, albeit for a limited time, from a course of injections, to enjoy some of the summer. Your last sentence is very poignant, but sadly true. Take care. |
