Tweaked the fancy suspension, and all of a sudden the 22 year old all rounder is my 95% bike. Bliss. ? RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 01-11-24 Personally it’s the motor biking unicorn?? RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Trebus - 16-01-25 Dragged it out the garage, fired it up, ran for a bit and put it back. Yeah I know, probably did more harm than good but wanted to get some fuel with stabiliser additive into the carbs. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 17-01-25 The Fazer lives.....MOT'd today, straight up the Post Office to get her taxed. The recovery guy ruined the nearside passenger footrest hanger, got a bit too enthusiastic with the ratchet straps. Have got a replacement that needs powdercoating as changed mine to black years ago. An oil/filter change is next, new tyres and I'm good to go, other than deciding on a replacement dark double bubble screen. Unfortunately the Puig that I had is not made anymore.. Just hope next months insurance is not too much of a shock. I treat it like a samurai sword in the sense that- when it is removed from its sheath it has to draw blood. So when it is started up - it has to be ridden ![]() ![]() (17-01-25, 06:19 PM)robbo Wrote: The Fazer lives.....MOT'd today, straight up the Post Office to get her taxed. Motul 7100 is certainly not getting any cheaper. Fresh tyres fitted, stuck with the Roadtec 01 SE’s. Camping gear coming down from the loft over the weekend as it’s Dragon Rally time next weekend. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 10-02-25 Well, the 2025 Dragon Rally came and went. Stayed dry which is always a bonus in Snowdonia in February. Venue was the same as last year near Bangor. Certainly seems to be more of an adventure bike weekend, but I suppose that's down to marketing. Personally any bike's an adventure bike, if it takes you on an adventure and gets you home safe and sound. Fazer was faultless, nice to ride it with fresh tyres. Excellent ride home, shame most of it was in the wet. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Gaz66 - 06-03-25 The joys of Exup service. Note to self, must invest in a hydraulic bike bench asap. Pulled the Exup valve at the wkend for a much needed clean & re-lube, dry as bone, all traces of previous copper grease had burnt away, valve spindle needed some tlc with some 600 wet n dry, as did the outer bush, spins mint in its bushes now, even without lube, my outer bush has always stuck solid in the outer face plate, wondering if they're a press fit? Any thoughts? never seen one that actually rotates, but since the 2 inner bushes are fully floating, I suspect the outer bush should be too. Not using copper grease again, it's shit, only fit for bolts & brake pads etc. Just cracked open a massive 1kg tin of (WURTH) high spec copper slip, courtesy of Honda main dealer, my last job before retiring 3yrs ago, awesome stuff, hopefully it'll perform better than the cheapo copper grease stuff used last time, but the Exup valve came out without issues, which I can't complain as it's not been touched in 5yrs 5,000mls ish, both cable tensions were still bang on where I last set em, & fork on valve pulley was still bang inline with the alignment hole. Taxed both bikes again yesdi £117 each ffs, feckin rickidouglas, anybody would think we wear the fookin rds out ffs. First blast on the thou today since being SORNED end of Nov last year, she's still a rocket & never fails to impress, got a bit giddy with the right hand down the bypass, had the arse end locked up going into the roundabout, nearly had brown pants, rear brake is way too powerful on mine, hence only use it in slow traffic, but needs must when you've over cooked it into a roundabout & need maximum anchors. Weather's been mint today, not too cold, plenty of sunshine, knocking up 15 degrees in sunny Barnsley, only 2 nobheads in cars today, which is good round my way, usually horn & middle finger gets some exercise at least a dozen times on a ride. Keep it shiny side up lads ? RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Trebus - 06-03-25 Nice one Gaz. I’ve got a hydraulic bench lift and makes a huge difference although often looked at the ABBA Skylift as a more compact and versatile alternative. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 06-03-25 Can’t beat a decent hydraulic bench. Must have had mine 20 odd years now. Doubt if I could do an exup service without one now, which strangely is today’s maintenance task. Don’t expect any issues as done at least once a year. Had a good whizz out yesterday around Surrey,Sussex and Kent, 190 miles in total. Shame the morning had several quite thick fog patches but knew they’d eventually burn off. Went down to Rustington to Powerbronze, as had hoped to get a screen to replace my Puig that got damaged. However didn’t like their version, so the search continues. The weekends forecast looks quite good, so might be out on Sunday. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - HarryHornby - 07-03-25 Great to see the bike back on the road, Robbo :-) And great to see the Eagles getting a bit of success recently! Thanks??. Not thinking about Wembley yet though? RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Gaz66 - 08-03-25 (06-03-25, 08:56 AM)Trebus Wrote: Nice one Gaz. Yeah, a lift bench is defo on my shopping list this year, knocks shit outta my old bones laid on a foam mat under a bike, ended in a bad neck for a few days as a result. Almost worth the pain for the smile the bike puts on my face every time I swing a leg over it. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 10-03-25 Sun poking through this morning some, so for the first time in several weeks, the Fazer got to clear its throat, Fired up first time, off to Derby, then took the B roads out and into the Dales. Stopped off in Matlock for a hot chocolate, sat by the river for a short while, but with no helmet on it was pretty chilly in the breeze. Uneventful ride back home along the A6 in time for lunch, maybe 60 miles or so. Must get out more. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 11-03-25 First proper breakfast run last Sunday. Early start so that “brisk progress” was a guarantee. Only stayed within the confines of Kent, but all on favourite A and B roads. Breakfast stop near Horsmonden, then home with 125 miles on the trip meter. Almost 1k miles on my new tyres, surprising how it mounts up. Looking forward to the ride to Le Mans 24 hour next month. My route is a little off the beaten track, but sure to induce more than a few grins. RE: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 21-04-25 Got a reminder I'd set on my phone that the earliest day for the MOT was on the 24th and decided that I really should actually *do* something with my FZ6, because I've barely ridden it since the previous MOT! ![]() First I had to syphon the fuel out because it had been sitting in there for a year and put 5 new litres in, although the old stuff didn't look too bad, so I let it settle, then syphoned most of it back in. Then gave the bike a good check over, the oil was fine, as were the brakes, so I just put a bit of lubricant on the pivot points and some Scotoil on the chain and went for a little pootle to check everything was ok. My first concern was a buzz or rattle I could hear from the front, but then found it was just a loose fairing bolt, so that was ok and after some riding around the back streets to make sure it wasn't going to stop unexpectedly, I got out onto the open roads and... ... ye gods am I out of practice! ![]() Roads that I would normally have been [ahem] "making progress" down I was only puttering along and bends that I would have normally been cranking it over, I was tiptoeing around. Towards the end of the ride, it was starting to come together again, but I really need to get some more miles done this year! |
