Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mr self destruct - 12-08-13 Came back from a fortnight's holiday in Kent spent with a wife, pensioner in-laws and an arthritic dog in tow. Two weeks in a Mondeo meant I HAD to get out on the Fazer straight away! So today what I did with my Fazer was wondered why the hell the battery was flat, and when charged up and tested (ran voltmeter between earth strap and -ve terminal) there was a 12v current flowing with everything switched off! :'( Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - noggythenog - 12-08-13 (12-08-13, 04:19 PM)Jazz999 link Wrote:
please mate aye, that looks ideal, much better than a normal cover.
The one I saw a while ago isn't on there at mo but there's this one http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=120942716372 And a bit more pricey is http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=310679302266
Agreed these things are ace, i never knew they existed. i shall call it the Wasp Nest since your bike looks like a wasp! ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Jazz999 - 12-08-13 Lol like it :-) Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 12-08-13 (12-08-13, 09:46 AM)Jazz999 link Wrote:
Pics?
Here ya go ![]()
And it's even got it's own patio and flower garden! Now that's someone who really loves his Fazer! Been thinking about picking one of those up Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Jazz999 - 13-08-13 Not sure with top box attached but certainly with the rack. I can have a try later if u like & see if it will? Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - lds1973 - 13-08-13 changed the fork oil to 15w on my FZS600. The oil that came out of it was minging. I can have a try later if u like & see if it will? Cover won't close with top box in situ, and obviously you'd have to be in it to put it on after its closed! There's space around the bike to put it on the floor and still be under cover tho. Aaaaah, yes, the great smell of cat's piss! :lol Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - slimwilly - 13-08-13 Had to attend a trainig day at CREWE so took the Fazer, 180 miles round trip, a good tuesday Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 14-08-13 Took her in to have the stutter attended to. Better, but still not gone. The guy who looked at it, and myself, are convinced it's carb/fuel/air flow related. Just can't see it being electrical. Upset a lot of traffic in Cirencester testing it out after each stage of work, trying it around 3k rpm in each of the gears on a short stretch of dual carriageway between 2 roundabouts - up and down and up and down and...! I'm going to start a little thread on it in the thous section, rather than go into detail here. Pissed down all the way home, Oxford jacket is waterproof....apart from the zip! In other words, it ain't waterproof! My Montane hiking over-trousers on the other hand kept my legs totally dry. Still love PR2s for wet weather riding. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - dazza - 14-08-13 Fitted an Ohlins rear shock ....WOW....Should have done this a long time ago. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Jazz999 - 14-08-13 @Dazza Nice mate, fairly noticeable improvement then? Cheeky question - how much? Totally transformed the bike, you notice it as soon as you take it off the main stand, feels much firmer with less sag. No more bouncing on uneven roads. High speed corners are a breeze, even the lumpy one near me. Gives you the confidence to edge your rear tyre and scrape your pegs on roundabouts. Bike feels more planted and more like a sports bike. I'm impressed. ![]() ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 14-08-13 (14-08-13, 07:09 PM)dazza link Wrote:
Totally transformed the bike, you notice it as soon as you take it off the main stand, feels much firmer with less sag. I can only imagine that the Ohlins would be even more so, plus it has so much more adjustment. I would just be worried that with all those adjustment options, I'd only tie myself in knots trying to set it up. Are you confident in this, or will you take it to a suspension specialist to set up? Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - garyb - 14-08-13 Re-assembled the engine and installed it back into the frame. Hopefully it won't be long now till I have the FZS back on the road! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - dazza - 14-08-13 Hi Nick, I know where you're coming from, suspension settings can get a bit confusing for me too. The previous rider was the same weight as me and tbh it feels right so far. That just leaves the preload to play with so pretty basic. As for taking it to a specialist, there are some pretty knowledgeable foccer's on here so may be picking their brains in the future. Personally, if I thought it was a major improvement just as it was, I'd probably accept that and leave it, cos I'm one very lazy foccer! But I would also always wonder what it could be like if it was set up by someone who really knew their stuff. On the other hand I also think that a road set up is always going to involve a certain amount of compromise as it has to cope with so many different surfaces, carrying luggage and/or pillions etc. And on the 3rd hand ( :lol ) I know that the handling of your bike is now going to be far superior to that of mine anyway! Hey ho, it's the variation that keeps life interesting... :rolleyes Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Punkstig - 14-08-13 Fitted the thou rear shock to my 600 foxeye, looking forward to riding it in anger now! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 15-08-13 I took the bike to Woods in Abergele for it's 18000 mile service, dodging the showers there and back. Chin curtain for Qwest helmet awaiting me on return. I've already fitted ear pads, so if the chin curtain makes no difference to the horrendous noise levels there's nothing else to try. Out for a ride tomorrow so will try it then. |
