Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 31-08-20 My riding partner for the day called in sick yesterday, just as I was going out the door. It would have been very easy to put the bike back in the garage and watch the last 5 hours of Le Mans, with a dose of WSB thrown in for good measure. Not having been out on the bike for a few weeks due to holiday, this wasn't an option. After exploring a network of B roads I got down to Cowfold, continuing south to Steyning before heading west, via Bury Hill for a quick cuppa, down the A272 as far as Winchester, and on towards Salisbury for a late breakfast. The A272 from Loomies to the A31 had been closed on the way down. I discovered later that a section had been resurfaced, and the equipment was being packed up, but was open for use on my return journey. I followed the good ole 272 all the way to A22, then the Ashdown Forest to Hartfield, Edenbridge and home. Another 288 of our wonderful English miles racked up. Ah, ok, got you now. I was thinking of the run north on the A32 from Loomies to the roundabout on the A31 where you turn right, then take the A339 north to Basingstoke :thumbup Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fazerscotty - 02-09-20 Worcester to Sherburn in Elmet again - getting to be a regular outing. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 06-09-20 I've posted a longer version of this in the FZ6 forum, but I finally got hold of a set of spacers for the front forks that I could cut down by 5mm to reduce the preload. I went for a 130 mile ride to the Weyhill Fair pub over a whole variety of different roads and the Hyperpro fork springs, plus the YSS rear shock make the FZ6 even more fun than it was originally :thumbup Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 07-09-20 Had a great 300+ mile run sorted for yesterday. Met up with Mr.Crazy on his brand new 70 plate steed, for a 07:30 start. After mainly B roads we stopped for a tea and a catch up at The Chalet. The car park was filling quickly as it was WW2 vehicle day. Would have liked to have stayed longer, but after taking a few pics, it was off to breakfast in Wiltshire via the A272. There were quite a few interesting bikes at The Haven, but after demolition our healthy options, it was back on the bikes headed for Poole Quay, the long way. However, whilst enjoying a good stretch of road towards Shaftesbury, the mighty thou missed a beat, sorted itself out for a few hundred yards, then died altogether. The battery was totally flat, so certainly a charging issue. Handily I’d stopped by a farm gate, so could get off the road. It was now just a case of waiting for the recovery guy. When his arrival was imminent, Mr.Crazy whizzed off to enjoy what was left of the day. The very helpful SOS recovery guy, Chris, took me to Salisbury to buy a new battery. Then with the headlight fuse removed, I whizzed home via the motorway, avoiding using the brakes and indicators as much as possible. Looks like I’m in the market for a replacement reg/rec. Any advice on where to get a reliable one at sensible money, would be gratefully received. Electrex World are my front runner at the moment. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 07-09-20 WW2 day at The Chalet Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 07-09-20 Bikes at The Haven Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 07-09-20 Waiting for the recovery guy. If the photo challenge had been, your Fazer next to a farm gate, I'd have cleaned up. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Don71uk - 08-09-20 Robby, It might be worth looking at the white connector under the left hand side panel by the tank, the link is from the us site http://fz1oa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143486&highlight=White+connector Don. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 08-09-20 Hi Don, The annoying thing is I have a set of Anderson power poles sitting in the garage, waiting for whenever. I had changed the reg/rec a year or so ago,due to a different issue. The one that was on the bike at the weekend fails part of the diode check, but will take some advice as to the readings I’m getting, before I make any decisions. Although fitting the power poles is a definite. Thanks for the link, that was my exact scenario :thumbup Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - red98 - 09-09-20 morning ROBBO...sorry to hear of your breakdown, hope its a quick fix, that`s two of us this year with fails at the heaven :\ ... whilst you were enjoying the A272 east to west i was out going north to south, down past loomies on the A32 , breakfast at Portsdown and home on the A286 passing through Midhurst on the A272...good mornings ride Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 13-09-20 I was up that way this afternoon ![]() A32 to West Meon, then cut across to the A272 via East Meon. Out to the Cowdray Farm Cafe at Easebourne, then south on the A286 Pick up the B2141 for a fun ride back to the A272, then stopping off at Loomies. I then carried on west on the A272 to get to the Park and Ride at Winchester South to practice some slow speed stuff, but it was barriered off (which I've never actually seen before!) So I headed back via the Morestead Road, A32, B2150 and then down through World's End :thumbup Unfortunately I also found that my rear tyre was down on the wear markers, so I need to get that replaced for the MoT... ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 15-09-20 Got a replacement rear tyre (Bridgestone T31) from Russ Tyres' and went on a nice 70 mile run to scrub it in :thumbup (I checked my records, the old one had done 12k miles! Wear markers? What are those...? :eek ) Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 16-09-20 MOT time yesterday. Passed with no problems. Still waiting for a reg/rec, but managed to get home before the battery voltage got too low. Phew. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - bald_pig - 20-09-20 Took her to get a new rear tyre, turns out one of the bearings is shot and the inner race is apparently seized to the spindle ![]() now looking for a new set of bearings, and she'll be getting a more in depth once over as there are some other signs that the previous owner was careless with a pressure washer ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 22-09-20 On hols last week so no riding. Out this morning though, Derby-Wirksworth-Cromford, then back home, lovely weather. More to check the bikes running fine really, Donington Park on Monday. Knowing my luck, the weather will break Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 30-09-20 (19-09-20, 11:25 PM)coffee link Wrote: Really !!! 12k ? I've never got more than 6 out of a rear, was it another Bridgestone? It was a T31, same as the replacement. I possibly *might* have gone a little further down on the wear markers than usual :look , but I've had over 9k out of one before (I'm not one for giving it lots of throttle out of the bends). |
