Id guess the screw that holds the tensioner in place?

Correct - so it led me into valve clearances (have to release the cam chain tension to get the guide back in position), which I have been planning to do for the last 4 years. Now at 75K, it's an excellent time to get in there! Except that my feeler gauge blades are too wide!
This in turn has led to the AIS system coming off - not going back on...….
Mmmm, I could do with sorting the EXUP valve as well, exhaust off. No studs sheared but the valve is BER!
What's that, looks like the radiator is seeping on a bottom seam, radiator etc also off.

Before you know where you are you'll be doing a full stripdown resto.  :lol

Don't go there. Cleaned off the front of the engine yesterday, couple of coats of Simoniz Matt Aluminium later and its looking good.
Valve clearances today - then I'll put a list together of parts required.

Fitted the tpms to the tft dash, didn't work at first , so read the instructions  and you have to switch the unit on then fit the senser.  Best to read first ?

First picture is the before.

2nd picture is after a coat of Simoniz and tapping and capping the AIS system. All going well, checked the valve clearances and none needed attention - not bad after 75K.

How does/did that happen

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - red98 - 02-04-20

went to put a few PSI's in.eased the valve to one side to get the pressure gauge on and it started leaking. gave it a tug and it cracked.a few years old so cant complain...

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Fazian - 02-04-20

Got a tail tidy and new indicators coming in the next few days along with a tyre pressure monitoring system so I'll be busy over the weekend me thinks  :thumbup

Want to try and get it done as I'm starting to get busy with work again now!

Can you replace it without taking the tyre off?

I know what you mean especially the front because of the disk. I brought a right angle adapter for the foot pump makes it easier

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - red98 - 02-04-20

MTREAD...you can if you have the right tools,i dont...will be breaking the bead and pushing the tyre to one side, valves on order at WEMOTO...

just as well it didn`t let go whilst i was riding it  :eek :eek :eek

SHARPIE...thats got me thinking, i think i have a right angled adaptor in with my puncture repair kit... Wink

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mtread - 02-04-20

Thanks red. I have a very slow leak in the front. No sign of anything sharp in the tread. Valve is the suspect. I might just keep pumping it up until the next tyre change.

I've had a slow leak in my rear tyre for months now, i think it may be from the rims again, but don't actually know, but it is a complete nuisance.

But i recently bought a new electronic air pump that you can run from the bike battery. I took my time before choosing another one, as a previous one i'd bought was complete and utter crap from the start, then after a couple of goes it started smoking then died a miserable death.

This new one had great reviews, it's German made so the quality is better than average, and i was amazed at how compact it is.
I'll give it a go later as the tyre will need some air around now (not that i'm using the bike) and if i'm happy with it i'll either let people know on here or i'll create a new link and add a few photo's too.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 03-04-20

A decent air pump and tyre plugging kit is essential if you like your days out or commute. A puncture can seriously ruin your day, whereas with that set up you’re on your way inside half an hour usually. Be interested to see what one you went for.
Mine’s the Airman Tour. Been pressed into service three times in the last two and a half years and has been as good as gold.

Yep, not only did i also purchase a brand new plugging kit to keep in the top box, but it is the AIRMAN TOUR pump i bought.

Good to hear some more positive feedback before i even used it.  :thumbup

If anyone else is interested, beware that there is a slightly cheaper version, but that one doesn't come with the crocodile clip adapter cable that is needed to attach it to your battery.

Hope you tyres are not as old as the valves  :eek Big Grin

I made up a lead with an Optimate plug on the end, so it just plugs into my Optimate charging point. I had several leads with my Airman including a cigar lighter fitting, which I used until I made up the Optimate compatible one.
