Before the weekend, the passenger pegs will be off, mirrors off, along with the centre stand, brim the tank with super unleaded, and off to Donington Monday (if its not cancelled)
why the center stand off, does it catch the track or is it a weight thing
Yep, drags on the tarmac, plus the weight thing too, thats why I take the passenger pegs off too. Ill leave the underseat toolkit at home, fit the panniers on with all the tools and stuff I think I may need, put my food and drink in the tank bag, small fold up chair across my back/shoulders, then off for the day. Take the panniers/tankbag off when I get there. Id love to have a van or a trailer, but just cant afford another vehicle.
Odd that it scrapes, my boxeye stand has never done so. Dont think it is even anyway near scraping Unlike the front pegs. Think the exhaust can would scrape first.
I reckon it was scraping on the concrete kerbs at the apexes. As ive gotten more confident, more bike parts have worn away. If you look at the photo, you can see where I fitted plastic sliders to the fairing because I wore a hole through the fairing. Then I wore the slider out, and felt the rear was lifting slightly at lean as the fixing point for the fairing was acting as a fulcrum, so I modded the fairing (cut the contact point away). The footpegs have long since been worn away. I made a mod to the sidestand some time ago to prevent that from dragging, it now raises up a little more for a little more ground clearance. Of course, its not really designed for this sort of stuff, and I dare say im pushing it somewhat, but I dont really fancy an out and out supersport as I cant justify another bike in the garage, so Im just trying to get the best from what Ive got really. Just an old bloke trying have some fun :lol

Curious. Took the hugger off to give it a clean underneath. Two marks apparent, one on the underside, one on the top. Underside one looks to be caused by tyre contact, topside one looks to be due to the hugger coming into contact with the right side exhaust pipe. Would I be wrong to assume that at some point while riding, the rear becomes compressed, the hugger comes up against the exhaust, and the contact pushes the hugger onto the tyre? In effect, the hugger is sandwiched between the pipe and the tyre? Should I worry about this, or remove the hugger and ride without it? If I do the that, does that mean the tyre will contact the hot exhaust pipe?

Any thoughts anyone?

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 17-03-20

Very possibly. When I had my Fireblade, which had a colour coded undertray fitted to it,  sometimes it had tyre marks on the paintwork. Obviously under certain conditions the rear suspension was severely compressed, but can't say I was ever conscious of it happening, just noticed it when cleaning the bike. This would have happened on some real banzai trips down to the Bol in the late 90's.

Yep, couldn't agree more. :thumbup . Keep an eye on the weather and get out for a whizz when you can.

Makes you fucking laugh.... can't arrest a moped stealing scumbag who is riding up and down the pavement with no helmet on, or some drug piece of shit who is breaking into hard working people houses... but they will almost certainly have the time and man power available to arrest people riding in the middle of nowhere, keeping themselves to themselves ??

Should try arresting all the dickheads that feel the need to buy up all the essential supplies instead!

After an oil and filter change a quick whizz up to Biggin Hill to complete the photo challenge, as well as to check for any leaks after the work that's been carried out through the winter. The new Oxford heated grips came in handy, as the easterly wind was certainly chill.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 22-03-20

Was down The Chalet by 9:15 this morning as word had it that a few renegade Pioneer entrants were still going to do the run to Brighton. We had the carpark to ourselves as the caff is closed until further notice. As we were about to leave having waited a good half an hour, a solo rebel rider roared past, I'd already put the camera away by this point which was a shame.
We then had a whizz across country to Whiteways at Bury Hill. The place was heaving with bikes, cars, walkers, moutain bikers the lot. Whether the caff was open or not I don't know as we didn't bother stopping for obvious reasons. My S1000RR riding pal was leading, there can't be any B roads in Kent, Surrey and Sussex he doesn't know, and soon we were turning onto the A25 to have a look in at Newlands Corner, which again was really busy, followed by Box Hill. Although the carpark had the barriers across, bikes could still get in via a gap at the side, but what was the point, Rykas was shut. The trip over the top of the hill was quite torturous due to the volume of cars and cyclists. If a lockdown gets announced in the next few days I won't be at all surprised as no one seemed to be distancing themselves from others, with scores of picnic groups on the grass.
With 148 miles on the trip I think I can consider the Road Techs well and truly scrubbed in. Whether they get an opportunity of any further action, we'll have to wait and see.

Just got back after a late afternoon quick 60 miler taking advantage of the empty roads and sunshine, although I was a bit ambitious in getting my summer gloves out of storage.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 22-03-20

After giving the bike a coating of acf50 yesterday followed by a wipe over, out this morning in the sunshine, only about 30 miles just to check no leaks etc after the oil/filter change last week. Finished up stopping by a local landmark, know as the Hangman's Oak, and enjoyed the view down over the Trent Valley

Went to fit an ignition advancer - haha lol.
Can anyone spot what I found to be missing once the cover came off  :o

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 23-03-20

Id guess the screw that holds the tensioner in place?

Correct - so it led me into valve clearances (have to release the cam chain tension to get the guide back in position), which I have been planning to do for the last 4 years. Now at 75K, it's an excellent time to get in there! Except that my feeler gauge blades are too wide!
This in turn has led to the AIS system coming off - not going back on...….
Mmmm, I could do with sorting the EXUP valve as well, exhaust off. No studs sheared but the valve is BER!
What's that, looks like the radiator is seeping on a bottom seam, radiator etc also off.
