Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 21-05-19 (17-05-19, 06:30 AM)darrsi link Wrote:
Have you not thought about Kardashian style implants instead? They've gotta be comfy? :lol
Speaking from experience? Oh, BTW, I tried out the gel seat over the weekend as I rode down to Devon to do a bit of surfing. It is better than the stock seat and I get further before it gets uncomfortable, but it's not a perfect fix ![]() Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - steve 10562cc - 22-05-19 Snapped an exhaust stud on my FZ1 it had been soaking in WD40 for 5 days with regular top ups. Gave it some heat from a hot air gun jiggled it a bit (technical term) seemed to have loosened off OHHH NOOO it sheered level with the nut (not the one holding the spanner). The air was blue. Will have to ride my Triumph speed four till I get the FZ sorted waiting for bits going to change all of them to stainless steel. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 22-05-19 I can lend (post) you a stud extractor that worked a treat on my Triumph last week. On the subject of stainless, the best combination would be a steel stud with a stainless nut. Stainless can "fuse" together (known as galling) just like steel, so having dis-similar metals seems the best combination. Plus Gas was recommended to me as being more penetrating than WD40, but as long as the stud comes out, that's all that matters. :thumbup Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - steve 10562cc - 22-05-19 Thanks for your kind offer Robbo. My eldest son is a plant fitter so he's got all that kit on his van, and is used to removing studs/bolts etc from the plant he works on so looks like I'm tea boy while he gets them out he reckons it's safer and quicker for him to do them than let a ham fisted brickie loose on them. I take the nuts off and copper grease them every a year when it gets it's spring service, couldn't get that one off when I first got the bike so it didn't get done. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 22-05-19 Cool, sounds like you're all sorted then. When I did mine all the nuts came off except one which just unscrewed the stud, so no real drama. I replaced the nuts with stainless but these aren't as thick as the originals, which left more thread exposed. Remedied that by screwing, acorn nuts, I think that's what they're called, on the exposed thread, after a good dose of copperslip.Good luck, hope it all goes well, mind that hot kettle though :lol . Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fazersharp - 22-05-19 Dome nuts. NOT Doughnuts Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 22-05-19 According to Westfield Fasteners, they're acorn nuts, but in Screwfix they're dome nuts. :lol Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fazersharp - 22-05-19 (22-05-19, 05:10 PM)robbo link Wrote: According to Westfield Fasteners, they're acorn nuts, but in Screwfix they're dome nuts. :lolAcorn is a much better description/name for them Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fireblake - 22-05-19 Last week i fitted the Ventura tail pack I bought several years ago. Changed spark plugs, with the help of Justy1000. God bless him. I think they were the original ones and the bike has done over 45,000. No issues with the old plugs but wanted the piece of mind of new ones with my upcoming trip to Scotland. Also did an oil and filter change and cleaned the K+N air filter. I've bought a fuel filter which I'll replace as soon as it arrives and new tyres in a week or 2 once funds allow. Mickey Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 23-05-19 A ride to Cannock Chase to see an old friend, then to the K1 Cafe, near Uttoxeter, and back home to Wrexham. A nice condition GS 750 at the cafe. Beautiful warm day, light traffic. 150 miles. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Grahamm - 23-05-19 The exhaust has been blowing a bit from the connection between the cat pipe and the 4 into 1 pipe that leads from the headers, so I decided to replace the gasket. I realised that I'd need to remove the headers too, but even though the nuts on them are almost new (installed when I had the engine changed last year) they were already starting to rust, as were the mounting studs, so I've decided to replace them with stainless steel ones. In the mean time, whilst I'm waiting for them to be delivered, I bled the rear brakes as they were getting a little soft and the MOT is coming up. Now I've just got to wait for the new studs and nuts, then replace the rear gasket and I should be good to go :thumbup Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fazerscotty - 31-05-19 MOT'd again, passed again - 72K and going strong. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - ogri48 - 31-05-19 nice one scotty! Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 05-06-19 Had a whizz down to Portsmouth to watch the D-Day remembrance fly past. Met up with Flooky for a quick catch up, then headed east to Beachy Head to watch the flight of Dakotas en route to Normandy. The Daks takeoff time from Duxford, was delayed somewhat, which made for quite a wait on an exposed windy hillside. Glad I toughed it out as they were quite a spectacle. Then A22 London bound, rolling on the drive with 222.2 miles exactly, on the clock. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 06-06-19 New front Road Tech 01 fitted this afternoon. Bolted on the pannier frames, as planning to set off on Sunday to do the NC500. Weather forecast for northern Scotland is quite favourable for next week. Hope it stays that way. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mtread - 07-06-19 It's been bloody horrible up here this week. Good luck Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - fireblake - 07-06-19 A busy week fettling my Thou'. New 023's on. Finally fitted the lamb skin seat cover and a cigar lighter socket and double USB thingy on the handle bars. Not sure whether I like it there though. I also changed the fuel filter although I don't think I needed too as the old one was clean inside as shown in picture. Another needed to do job was get the center stand repaired, it had rusted through. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 09-06-19 Just got back from a ride to Port Vale Football Club, Stoke on Trent, where a Staffordshire Bikers' Breakfast event was held. Very well attended. One of the stands was manned by a paramedic who featured on 'Emergency Bikers'. I got chatting to two local bikers, one of whom was a ' foccer '. Good to meet you lads. I attach a photo of his immaculate 2003 FZS 600. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Neon Knight - 10-06-19 Smiled a lot because I am back on the road after a 2 year absence. I forgot how brilliant it is to ride a good bike. Happiness is flies in the eyes ![]() |
