Fazersharp everything was cheaper in 1980s, including my shoes :lol

Mine is slightly warped too, on a 1000. Caliper not dragging, perhaps it was at some point prior to my ownership. New pattern discs are available on fleabay for less than £30 but it doesn’t really bother me enough to warrant replacement. Got a few Bahco in the garage of varying sizes too ?

I use my rear brake a lot in traffic so i like it to be sharp and very responsive.
Got a Galfer disc with SBS Ceramic pads and it's the best combo i've ever had on the rear of any bike i've owned.
Not the cheapest out there but you get what you pay for with discs.

My Bahco adjustable will outlast me. Bugger, that's just devalued me to less than 50 quid.

I have a Bacho file rasp/metal and an adjustable extra thin wide jaw good for plumbing work. Been hanging my nose over their 8224 adjustable pump pliers - sick of my crappy cheapo ones loosing the size I set

Knipex are a good make for water pump pliers.

Like these, also a great seized brake piston and oil filter removal tool.

You're having us on fella, surely you don't take a pair of gas pliers to the brake pots!?!

Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today - deeteefifty - 26-08-18

:lol  Celticdog, they were seized solid 1/4 way out, the caliper was in the vice getting plenty of heat and the pistons were heading for the scrap heap anyway, so no harm done.

I I will look into the knipex ones they look like they have plenty of setting positions which is another bug-bear I have with my crappy cheap ones.
deeteefifty - I would of thought with all that expensive kit you could afford more than one pair of shoes :lol

My stilettos are out of shot, that's just one of those shoes you find on the road, I keep it in my pocket for emergencies, in this case it was used as a prop to give a sense of proportiontion to my exhibits.

Last night I thought I'd have a look out of curiosity when my MOT runs out.......... it was this Sunday.  :eek

Phoned the good lads down at my bike shop this morning who kindly said bring it down straight away and it had passed by 10am.  :thumbup

Nice one?

Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today - deeteefifty - 31-08-18

In case you were unaware, today is national helicoil day, at least it was in the shed of dread.
Photos:
1 Front tank mount.
2 Left hand side panel.
3 Bottom front sprocket cover.
Why's it nearly always 6mm threads that go, not 8mm or even a 5mm, the equivalent 1/4" does the same on old imperial British iron.
Anyway the ever reliable helicoil insert tool went all unreliable on me by snapping its fork end off in the blind hole engine casting, twaty bollocks, I had to pick away and uncoil the helicoil to retrieve the broken bits, cut a new slot in the insert tool and do it again.

Thank you deeteefifty. I've been wanting to do the USD Fork change from Day 1 of owning my Fazer, however considering the amount of work plus parts required (complete front end change), also didn't want the bike to be sat around without being able to ride it for too long! SuperSport forks, so a massive increase in performance (over Fazer Cartridge forks) plus these offer full adjustability, inspire so much more confidence, due to the increased handling and cornering ability - totally PLANTED.

The Fazers are versatile machines, pretty much tick all the boxes, they do it all well (touring, commuting, racing around the twisties when you feel the need).
Hope you are enjoying yours? Smile

Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today - deeteefifty - 06-09-18

Did you have to get a steering stem made to suit then pressed into the bottom yoke, or did the one with the replacement forks match up?

Re: What have you done to your FZS600 bike today - F4celess - 07-09-18

Steering stem is the only original part that's used from the Fazer. However I did put in a new set of tapered headrace bearings.

Lower triple tree/clamp was taken from the SuperSport bike, that had to be machined a little, so it could be pressed into the FZS600 Stem.
Top yoke is a custom solid billet CNC Yoke, along with the handlebar risers, actually designed for the SuperSport bike (to fit the larger diameter USD forks).

It would be possible to use the SuperSport original top yoke, perhaps requiring spacers, if you planned on also using the Sport bike Clip-Ons, for a sports / Café racer style conversion.  8)
