Starting and looking at mine is all I can do for now. Waiting for parts is the worst.  :\

Started her up after that cold spell had you jump her turning over ok but not enough to start but once started ticked over nicely.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - agricola - 06-03-18

Knocked up a frame for supporting the bags and keeping them of the hot exhausts. Ridiculous money to buy, so I knocke dsome up out of 15mm copper pipe and a few elbows. a couple of hours work and perhaps £3. Bags on and went out for a ride to CCM in nottingham to pick up an oil fileter and a litre of oil, and a plug washer/seal. No problems, so job done.

I was thinking along those line 15mm copper, plumbing fittings.
Why not go the whole hog and connect up  a radiator and incorporate it in the cooling system of the bike? Help cool the engine in the summer and keep you warm in the winter.
I think it would be a unique customisation
and you could spray it the same colour as the bike.
Very attractive.  :lol
Ohh! It would also give you a point to bleed any air locks out of the system, you could also put a tap inline to drain the system down, make sure it's a hot tap though, with the bit of red on the top.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - mtread - 07-03-18

No, you want a feed before it goes round the framework  and another after when cooled, then run both into a mixer tap

Dont need to paint it Tommy, Ive the Tango colour scheme bike Smile
I was thinking of fitting a drain tap, then I can fill it with water when I go out in winter. The heat from the pipes will boil it up, open the tap into a mug with teabag in, hey presto, a mobile brew on the road Smile

Damn me you have really thought the customisation out, it's a multi-functional upgrade that not only caters for the bikes needs but also for the needs and comforts of the rider.
You should take out a patent on it before one of the idea thieving sods in here does.
Top marks :lol

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Dynspud - 09-03-18

Took my Gen 1 thou for her annual checkup.
Pass 1st time but an advisory for a new rear tyre.
Got Pilot Road 4s at the mo - any advice on a different tyre?
I've heard the Bridgestone T31 is a good choice.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 09-03-18

A ride on the 600 to Montford Bridge Cafe, near Shrewsbury, and back. About 7 degrees, dry roads, piles of snow still on the verges.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - HarryHornby - 09-03-18

insured her for the first time in 6 months (she's been holed up in my garage) all ready for her MOT tomorrow :-)

T30 Evo, Ron Haslam swears by them uses them on all his race school motorcycles.

Ron may have upgraded to the T31 from T30 since the video above was made, but he loved then then and the tyre is still the same and it might be a bit cheaper than the latest rendition the T31

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Dynspud - 09-03-18

Top tip, cheers mate.

I think you're right, the video was done a few years ago but that tyre was highly regarded by RH.
The materials used and tyre design can only have improved since then so, perhaps, the T31 is the way to go.
Perhaps a bit more investigation required??  Smile

I have to say, I'm just looking forward to a better spring/summer and the chance to put a few more miles on the bike.
We are blessed with such great roads in Wales, especially around the Brecon Beacons and Mid Wales area, which are just a few miles from where I live in Cwmbran, so looking forward to this year.

Happy riding to everyone  :faz  8)

Cool
I have Battlax 021 the front and rear on my 2003 FZS 600.
I am more than happy with the 021 on the rear but not on the front, the edges are starting to feather and it is very, and I mean very slightly skitty when powering hard out of bends, it has never caused me total meltdown but has made me clamp up on a few occasions, Brown moment I believe they are called.

My FZS 600 is going in for an MOT on 25th March and A-Force has got a front T30 Evo in for me, shame cos the front Battlax 021 has done quite a bit less than 2K miles, but my reckoning is that is it worth risking the bike and poor ole me for 97 quid? the cost of a tyre.
Anyway I bet there are not many in here that ride their bikes to the tyres full potential, maybe a few of the track day lads do but the general foccer like me  probably not.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 10-03-18

The T30 Evo is a good tyre. I have been using them for a couple of years. Ron Haslam's race school switched to Dunlop Roadsmart 111 tyres in 2017, probably for commercial reasons.

Cheers for the update Anquetil.

All the bikers that I have spoken to that have ridden on the T30 say that they are a brilliant grippy tyre, in both wet and dry conditions And that they have some longevity to them as well. So looking forward to scuffing the new one in when it goes on the front in a couple of weeks.
I found the 021 on the front absolutely fine when braking, even braking hard and getting that cheeking noise as the tyre really bites into the tarmac, and normal cornering and general riding it was fine but it was when cranked over and powering hard out of bends when the front is unloaded that it got a little twitchy.
Maybe I am expecting too much, I do ride quite hard at times but would not call myself a scratcher, the last thing I want is knees dragging along the road while cornering so I tend to stay central on the saddle rather than hanging out.The times I have hung over the side I have always felt a bit of a prick doing it, mind you is it really nessasary in Sainsbury's car park I ask myself. :lol

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - HarryHornby - 10-03-18

I took her for an MOT, she passed with flying colours :-)  I then went for a nice ride, I haven't ridden for almost 7 months so it was awesome to be back on the bike.
