Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - tommyardin - 10-12-17 Not really what I did to my Fazer today but it is relevant (I think) This is at a very good price: www.ebay.co.uk/p/Wd40-WD-40-Multi-use-Maintenance-Smart-Straw-450ml/520187708?var=502118021668 Or You could buy this, also at a very good price: www.ebay.co.uk/p/Wd40-WD-40-5-Litre-Multi-use-Maintenance-Can-Plus-Spray/1917439260 The first can is 450 ml @ £7.49 a can (Good price) that works out at 8.32 pence per 5 ml application. The second can is 5 litres at £22.50 a can (A very good price) that works out at 1 pence exactly per 5 ml application, a good saving, along with the can you get a free reasonably good quality spray bottle (Cost you £2.50 in the Garden Centre). What I like about this system is you can mix WD40 with engine oil and spray it into awkward areas, it gets oil/lube into difficult places that would be almost impossible to get. Another good use of the oil/WD mix is on motorcycle drive chains, not to lube them particularly but if you jet wash a chain this mixture will drive out the water (WD=Water displacement) and add a little lube prior to a quick wipe down with a rag and lubing in your usual way. WD is great on electric as well, for water displacement. I just wish I had something better to do on the wet Sunday afternoon. I do have new NGK straight plug caps to go on, but, no room to work in the shed, the wind is howling through the covered way down the side of my house and the rain is bouncing about 9 inches up off the patio as it lands. :'( :'( :'( :grumble Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 18-12-17 A nice ride in the sunshine to Montford Bridge cafe near Shrewsbury. About 8 degrees this afternoon. Roads damp and greasy. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - celticbiker - 18-12-17 Gave it a good wash, oil and filter change. Having done too many motorway miles recently, took it out on my favourite B roads and got the rear spinning up to bring the tyre back towards profile. ![]() Must stop being so lazy in the future :z Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - slimwilly - 18-12-17 Got the covers off my gen 2, battery would not go, trickle charge, no good,, jump leads =started,, so will see if trickle charge will save battery, 5 year old moto batt, I have high hopes,,, if not will be getting a lightweight one. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - celticbiker - 19-12-17 I've read that them there LiiOn batteries don't like the cold. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Dudeofrude - 19-12-17 Checked my tyres pressures, only 27 in the rear and 21 in the front ?? topped them up now so should ride a little better haha Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 20-12-17 I had new DID chain and sprockets fitted to the 600.So much smoother on the ride home. Which bike oh! man of many 600 Fazers Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 20-12-17 My red 'winter' Fazer, Tommy. The old chain was running as rough as hell. There wasn't a great deal of wear on the front or rear sprocket but changed the lot as I always do. The output shaft bearing was checked, and was smooth with no play. Output shaft threads were fine too. 12mm nut fitted. Out tomorrow in the 11 degree 'heat', all being well. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 21-12-17 A ride to Bala to drop something off at my friends house. Dry and bright when I left home. Mist and rain in Bala. Took a flask with me expecting to sit by the lake for an hour. Instead, I had 30 minutes sheltering under a tree, drinking my coffee. Four bikers went past heading towards Dolgellau, so I wasn't the only nutter out today. Just finished washing and drying the bike. I am not a believer in LocTite, but there is one and one only acceptation for me, the infamous front sprocket nut (12mm), along with a new sprocket washer each time it comes off. LocTite 620 is what Yamaha recommend. If that bad boy comes undone it can throw you up the road big time if the chain jams up in the engine area :eek , whilst fucking the output shaft big time, I'm told it is a complete engine strip down to replace it, or weld the nut to the shaft at the risk of cooking oil seals. Cheerful little soul aren't I ? :rolleyes Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - unfazed - 21-12-17 I am not a believer in LocTite, but there is one and one only acceptation for me, the infamous front sprocket nut (12mm), along with a new sprocket washer each time it comes off. Bloody brilliant ! I have printed the file off for future reference. Thank-you. Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Anquetil - 23-12-17 I rode over to Wem, Shropshire, to Tony Moss Motorcycles. It's Tony's last day after 53 years of great service. At the age of 74 he is retiring. He has looked after my bikes for many years and is a true gentleman. Real personal service, great honesty and integrity. He is a former TT racer and rode many of the Irish road races, including finishing 2nd at Skerries, 4th at the Temple 100. I gave him my very best wishes for a long and happy retirement. A sad day for me and many other local bikers. The end of an era. Photo is of Tony with my Fazer.
