"GB News" is going to be the UK equivalent of Fox.
Is it[/quote]

"Andrew Neil reveals politics team for GB News channel. Reporter from right-wing Guido Fawkes website joins line-up"

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/gb-news-andrew-neil-tom-harwood-b1804566.html

Oh, and, yes, "GB News chiefs have warned against “false imagining” of the channel as a British version of the opinion-led, right-wing US network Fox News", but given that Fox considers itself "Fair and Balanced", I think I'll take that with a large pinch of salt!

Quote: I don't actually care if my news is biased left or right but what I do care about is when a broadcaster is biased but hides behind a veil of neutrality. Sounds to me like GB news is going to be about proper debate from both sides. Can only be healthy.

"Proper debate" is not "Here's Mr X talking about the racist abuse he's experienced and here's Mr Y of the KKK to present the other side of the argument"!

Won't watch any channel where the newscaster wears a shredded wheat on top of his head Wink

Channel 4 News and Newsnight for me. They both ask difficult questions

Then your reply was

How can you make such a wild jump to end up at such an extreme outcome.

I only learned about GB news from people kicking off about it - so I tried to find it and have a look for myself, only to find its not even on air yet. Very odd.

I just got a job in a factory making plastic Draculas

There are only two of us on the production line, so I have to make every second count

Quote: On a technicality I'd dispute that wire wool counts as 'hair'

I was thinking more of that blond buffoon who ruffles his hair up before every interview, in order to attempt to be 'amusing'.  Wink

Quote: They were saying yesterday that the labour shortage is due to the furlough scheme. Ie people are happy to stay on 80% to do nothing. Once travel/parking/lunch etc...costs are deducted they're not much worse off apparently.
Except of course, the decision to furlough and when to end furlough, is made by the employer, not the employee.

Quote: I stand corrected if I'm wrong, but doesn't the employee have to agree to being taken off furlough?
Not as a right. Normal contract of employment rules apply. You would have to prove that the circumstances prevented you returning to the workplace ie that the workplace is unsafe. Otherwise you run the risk of dismissal.
