Jesus jumped up Christ in a sidecar! Do we have to have politics in here as well?!  :'(

Fitted the TUTORO I had from the Versys then went for a ride down to West Bay  Smile

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 17-07-16

A good ride around Alston, Hartside, Middleton, Teesdale, Weardale etc.
Came across two bike accidents. Had to wait for air ambulance to clear the road on one, but rider didn't seem too bad. Turned around at the second one and found a different way to my destination, as the copper at the road block said it'd be about half an hour before the road opened again. Silly season is upon us.

Great not being in the south anymore: miles and miles of empty moorland roads:

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - Fazer99 - 18-07-16

I had to leave it in the garage thismorning and I had to take the car to work  :'( as I had to bring my computer in to get the IT guy to take it away and fix it after Microsoft did their FUCKING forced update to windows 10 and it has completely screwed my computer up, when I tried contacting them they were as helpful as a marziepan door knob and they hung up on me.

Oh well! on the brighter side I will be popping home at lunchtime to swap the car for the bike  Big Grin

rode to view/put deposit on the womans r3, oil and filter change (realised it still had the oem filter in place which was a knightmare to get off!)
chain adjusted, battery charged after near battery death in birmingham (luckily after letting it cool slightly and dual lights disabled it started)

very nice pics and some very nice roads  :thumbup

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - robbo - 20-07-16

Agreed, very nice pics and a beautiful part of the country.Hedgetrimmer, your post is a hard act to follow as all I did today was to fit a lengthened sidestand to overcome the excessive lean due to the jackup kit I fitted the other month.

Finished work for the long break. Got on the fz1 and rode to Folkestone. Onto Eurotunnel and sat in a hotel in Lille. Into Bolzano tomorrow. Lead shot and fix risers definitely reduced bar vibes.

Started what I thought would be a straightforward job a month ago........!
carb to cylinder head inlet rubbers were seriously cracked & embrittled-15 summers had taken their toll.
Finally yesterday got the bike running properly-shes riding like she should :lol
This is what it took.......
4 x carb inlet rubbers
1 xAir Filter
1 x Fuel filter
Various Yamaha OEM parts inc 2 rad hoses & 3 snmall bore carb coolant circuit hoses & clips
4 xCopper exhaust port gaskets
4 x carb overhaul kits
Heatproof black engine paint,Wynns carb cleaner, GT85 spray
Stainless steel hose clips
pkt 300mm cable ties
Set of taper roller headset bearings from "Marksman" ( £24 delivered next day) Yamaha OEM are £36 each!!!
Front forks rebuilt with new springs tailored to my weight, riding style etc,new seals, clips & correct grade of oil to suit springs
Finally had to pay someone else to synchronise carburettors as my mate with gauges is off sunbathing :lol

few jobs left for winter months-free off 1 front seized brake bleed nipple, overhaul front brakes with kits from "Powerhouse"
Repaint centre stand,Rebush gear pedal to shaft to eliminate side play(wear).
The REd Reviver has been Rejuvenated!

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - nick crisp - 27-07-16

More fun on't moor and dale. Down to Settle via Middleton, Hawes etc, then across to Skipton on the A65 (some of which would be cracking fun if you hit it free of traffic - some chance!). Then back up via Grassington, Aysgarth, across to Hawes again for fish and chips, out via Garsdale, but then hammered it up the M6 back to Carlisle as time was getting on.

Pics from today.

Re: what did you do with your fazer today ? - unfazed - 27-07-16

Took the 600 out of the garage this morning to go to work, fired up into gear, clutch out, stop, restarted clutch out stop.

Put it back in the garage and took the 1000.

When I came home decided to tackle what was most likely a side stand switch issue after the dinner

Down to the garage pushed the 1000 out to give a bit more space and light to work on the 600.

Off with the side cover found the blue connector took it apart, no corrosion on the contacts, checked the switch no continuity.  :'(

Removed the Side stand, (not really necessary just gives more room to work) removed the gear lever from the shaft, removed sprocket cover and finally removed the side stand switch.

Pulled the wire cable back to give me some room to dismantle the switch

Opened up the side stand switch, some discolouration and copper corrosion on the contacts.

Cleaned the contacts with 1200 wet and dry, coated all with Dielectric Grease. Put it back together tested it  :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

Put the side stand Switch back on (using Stainless bolts), Sprocket cover back on, Gearlever back on and side stand back on.

Coated the blue connector with dielectric grease and pushed it back together then pulled the the green  (neutral) connector apart and treated it with dielectric grease.
Started engine into gear side stand down cut out side stand up away for road. Sorted  :woot
