Most cyclists I see are sensible and responsible, but you don't notice them so much because they don't interefere with your progress. Cyclists have as much duty as any other road user to abide by traffic laws and follow the highway code. Not really, no. You don't need a license to cycle, so obeying traffic laws is optional as you cannot be banned. You do what is safest and gets you about the quickest. I mean that first bit at the traffic lights. Who wouldn't! Stop at the lights and you are just getting in everybody elses way and putting yourself at risk. The wrong way down one way streets, yup a bit stupid, but guess who's gonna get hurt. Good old daily mail. Re: Cyclists......tut tut tut - darrsi - 13-04-14 (13-04-14, 12:45 PM)VNA link Wrote:Quote:As for traffic lights you don't want to wait then dismount and walk across. You can't get banned but you can certainly get fined if you were to cause an accident through careless riding. http://www.ridingabike.co.uk/html/cycling_myths_busted.html Re: Cyclists......tut tut tut - darrsi - 13-04-14 Look what i found! ![]() Check out 69 & 71. https://www.gov.uk/rules-for-cyclists-59-to-82/overview-59-to-71 Re: Cyclists......tut tut tut - VNA - 13-04-14 Quote:You can't get banned but you can certainly get fined if you were to cause an accident through careless riding. I could get fined, I suppose, for careless walking. What's your point? So the dozens of cyclists wisely jumping the red light in the silly video. Well go on, show us the law, the implications and perhaps you can point to prosecutions. Or........you can look yourself if you're that interested! It's not me that wrote the Highway Code is it, and i'm neither a lawyer or a policeman? Re: Cyclists......tut tut tut - fireblake - 14-04-14 I don't mind people riding on the pavement as long as they give way to pedestrians or a t least slow down a bit. My main gripe as a lorry driver is following one up the road and eventually getting passed only to stop at lights and then to have them mount the pavement and then get in front. Hey i won't get hurt if i kill you but i may just have nightmares. So next time I'm a pedestrian and a cyclist comes my way on the pavement which isn't designated as cycle share I can just kick the Bike since A. no licence required to walk and B. never heard of anyone being prosecuted for assaulting a pushbike Even better I'll start walking along the middle of the road. I'm sure a copper would nick me for doing so but hey if enough of us do it the cops will ignore us Re: Cyclists......tut tut tut - darrsi - 14-04-14 (14-04-14, 06:44 PM)midden link Wrote: [quote author=VNA link=topic=12553.msg141370#msg141370 date=1397389528] So next time I'm a pedestrian and a cyclist comes my way on the pavement which isn't designated as cycle share I can just kick the Bike since A. no licence required to walk and B. never heard of anyone being prosecuted for assaulting a pushbike Even better I'll start walking along the middle of the road.
