Thats the most replies i have had to any of the posts that i have posted? But i got to say i though thanks for making me smile :lol I'm not even sure if you got the answer you were looking for - but with a question like that it's just all too easy to go off on a mini rampage hehe. Anyway, I think the response basically adds up to 'no, don't do it' Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - Fazerider - 14-03-14 Vegetable oil is better than nothing, but its viscosity is only about 20% of that of engine oil. Probably best not to use it on a long term basis, but it'll be better for lubricating a chain than WD40. Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - slimwilly - 15-03-14 I have just seen a dog licking his chain :eek Surely this thread is an April fools thread,,a bit early ![]() Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - mr self destruct - 15-03-14 (14-03-14, 09:33 PM)Fazerider link Wrote: Vegetable oil is better than nothing, but its viscosity is only about 20% of that of engine oil. Being serious now, I had a mk2 Golf GTD that happily ran on Veg oil (back when it was actually cheaper than diesel), so I'd agree that veg oil is far too thin to use as chain lube. My mrs said everywhere I went I left the smell of a chip shop. ![]() Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - chunk166 - 15-03-14 I was using it temporarily ![]() Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - stevierst - 15-03-14 It's a doddle making your own oiler, done it a few times on my work bikes for absolutely diddly squat! Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - AllyBally - 16-03-14 If you don't want to at the prices Scottoiler charge, it's worth looking at Loobman oilers. Check the website out, have had one before and work fine, does the job and cheaper. Had planned on buying one when looking to buy the Fazer, but didn't need to as the Fazer I ended up buying had a scottoiler already fitted. Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - darrsi - 16-03-14 Chopped onions, minced beef, and some fresh chillies, once applied on your chain and you get up to the legal speed limit, any vehicles following you will turn off at the nearest town because they can smell Nando's. :b Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - stevierst - 16-03-14 (16-03-14, 07:48 AM)darrsi link Wrote: Chopped onions, minced beef, and some fresh chillies, once applied on your chain and you get up to the legal speed limit, any vehicles following you will turn off at the nearest town because they can smell Nando's. :b:'(:'(:'( ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Has anyone tried alternatives for lubricating your chain!!!! - chunk166 - 17-03-14 Oh no!
