Re: Speed - darrsi - 21-10-13

Also, if you change the gearing enough, the 12,500 RPM in 6th can come down to below Yamaha's quoted top speed for the bike - not a useless figure then Wink

Don't forget the added turbo and the 1:3 gradient down hill as well  :lol

Re: Speed - fazersharp - 21-10-13

also dont forget the wind - because at 12,500 rpm and 155mph I will be making quite a lot of it !

Re: Speed - Dead Eye - 21-10-13

Wind and gradient don't make a different to gearning ratios... they make a difference to the maximum speed achievable under those conditions as they are a function of power, but it won't affect the RPM for a given Speed and Gear

Re: Speed - Mark YPVS - 21-10-13

I have seen on the speedo just under 150 mph on the 600 so about about 135 mph true speed, i dont think a half faired 600 would pull a true 155 mph ( did get 168 mph on my R6 speedo reading ( 1999 model) :evil

I've had 135mph with a passenger on as well, and if it wasn't for a pesky car changing lanes about a third of a mile up ahead i'd have gone quicker.
Bloody thoughtless these car drivers.  :lol

Re: Speed - Mark YPVS - 21-10-13

i find the ones with blue lights the worst, i had to ride on the pavement for several miles til i lost him  :evil :evil

I wouldnt fancy doing a test for you to see as I hate to think of the SMASH from 1st to 2nd gear as at normal revs its a clunck
I can say from unwanted one time experience those kind of revs puts out an outrageously loud bang  :rolleyes :o

Sorry to hear that, put it down to rider error

Re: Speed - JoeRock - 22-10-13

Why on earth wouldn't you be able to hit 10k revs in first? The red line isn't until 12,500!

They do it quite comfortably, and beyond!

Re: Speed - richfzs - 22-10-13

Think I might have been misunderstood - my bike does indeed quite happily do 10k rpm, and beyond... What it doesn’t do, is make a huge clunk, or outrageously loud bang, when I shift from 1st to 2nd.

Any rider error involved, is not on my part....
