Picture update

Re: Restoraion - celticdog - 29-11-16

Excellent finish on the airbox and infill panels fella, looks just like anodised aluminium.  :thumbup

Re: Restoraion - Chris - 01-12-16

Looks great! So pleased to see the progress on it.

Like the attention to detail,

Chris

WOW! you're doing a cracking restoration job  :thumbup

Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 03-12-16

Thanks Chaps,

Anodised Aluminium, also know as primer  :lol.

Starting on the forks tomorrow, everything looks pretty grotty so should be interesting.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

Re: Restoraion - joebloggs - 04-12-16

What paint did you use on the motor and did you etch prime the cases first?

Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 04-12-16

I used a specific engine paint and etch primer. It wasnt cheap but worked really well, especially for brush painting.  I soda blasted everything first then 3 coats of each. Let me know if you want a link to the paint.

Re: Restoraion - devilsyam - 10-12-16

what is soda blasting

Re: Restoraion - Wootan - 18-12-16

Shot blasting but using soda as the media

Re: Restoraion - devilsyam - 18-12-16

as in cokacola or sprite or even monster

Re: Restoraion - Graham53 - 18-12-16

Soda is an abrasive used in sandblasters but its soft enough that it doesn't damage surfaces but cleans off ingrained dirt and staining , it's a bit like washing powder (or in the US of A it's called washing soda) but for use with high pressure cleaning systems.
( didn't know if Devilsyam was joking sorry ?)

Re: Restoraion - devilsyam - 21-12-16

i wasnt never heard of it as a blasting service

Devilsam, if you go on youtube you'll find video's of people blasting complete engines, something you couldn't do with other media as it would risk destroying the motor if it was to find its way inside a casing

Thanks Nash. I've not had a great deal of spare time recently but a little progress has been made. I've replaced the rear shock and started the rebuild on the front forks. Pics below.
